We took the neck pocket down a little after these, the action is glorious now. Getting some new neck screws and then I'll make a little demo of it hopefully next week. Then the finishing begins!

I hope so. I'm going to string the badboy up tonight one more time before I start the finishing process. I'm well nervous about fucking it up, but I can always prime and block colour it if I do, that grain has got to be worth a try at a translucent white woodstain.

Like this btw:

Sexy, huh?

I won't. I do want it to be a fairly deep white colour though rather than a light stain, but I want the heavy grain sections to be visible, just like on my Baja Tele.

Doing more work on this today. When we took the bridge off realised that two of screws had snapped in the body due it being KRYPTONITE Ash. Gah!

We had to drill them out, which wasn't easy, but we got it done. Very close to starting finishing this badboy. Because it's a Mustang, but doesn't have a Mustang bridge (it has a Toronado hardtail, which stands much less proud of the body than a Mustang bridge) the strings were making contact with the neck so we've dropped the neck pocket by about 1mm and also made a shim/spacer for under the bridge out of CD material to lift it slightly. It's gonna be awesome.

My Dad is such a legend. The spacers for under the bridge are so awesome. I'm in love with this guitar.

Sanded the body with fine sand paper and a belt sander and a handheld

Here is the repair of the broken off screws my Dad did. Drilled to access them, he angle ground down his pliers so he could get at the screw and turned it out. Then replaced with dowel and glue. Immense. All this is hidden by the bridge plate, btw.

Cleaned off dust with white spirit, which helps show imperfections

Let teh staining begin! It's a lot more crisp white than this in real life

this is the exact effect I wanted, to see the grain still as it's such a nice lump of wood
