maybe shred-machines are the future quirk-casters: they're probably all owned by 14 years old kids now anyway, who will promptly spend the next 6 years practicing 24/7, so we'll see a shred resurgence around 2014 and 80's RG550's will go for £2000 a piece...

cyclones are too cool by far even now, for them to be quirk-casters do want though...

We all know they're too ashamed to do it, but it most definitely would be re-releasing their Charvel line of Surfcasters, non monsieur?. If I only had known of the "quirk" back in the late 80s.

the silvertone/airline of today is first act and daisy rock, i will agree. I've always had a hinting suspicion that 80s shred guitars will start making a comeback, but still I really hope it's not true. if it happens it will be sometime next decade. I have a theory that major cultural revolutions happen every 25 years after WWII. 1941, 1966, 1991 and the next one will be around 2016.

Also, the collectible guitar market will eventually go down. This happens with all kinds of vintage things it's a bubble that inflates and eventually pops. My dad has a 1928 buick that his grandfather gave him. he's restored it and everything. he was telling me in the 90s the antique car market was huge and you could sell everything for crazy prices. but it has since gone back down to normal prices. he said in the 90s he probably could have sold his car for $50,000 now probably only half that much.

I blame a lot of that on the economy now, tho. That and a lot of our peoples bein' at war... When they come back, they'll want a classic car to impregnate their women in the back of.

Honestly, First Act, Yamaha, Peavy and Squire are in every little kid's room right now. Except mine, I wish I had one :'(

Cheap shit's made in china now or is a reissue of a reissue. The quirk guitars will have to be original good quality stuff that just slipped under the radar.

Definately right about the Reverends. These are already very desirable. Also the short-lived Vaccaro range.
I was also thinking about those Fenders from a few years ago with 'black dove' pickups. Really good guitars, but not what Fender types wanted.

Those reverends are very cool and must have completely slipped by - first I've seen of them... What's the deal with First Act anyway? I know YYY's bloke uses them (obviously the hand-made, custom jobs) but a quick eBay pulls up a manson-shaped silver thing with dearmond style pickups and a preamp... for £80 BIN???
