took off control plate...........

that doesn't necessarily mean anything, except that your guitar was made after the 42nd week of '66. i've heard of '66 pots being used well into the '70s. especially on jags and jazzies. the story goes that some guy ordered way too many that year and i got fired for it. not sure if that's true, though.

yup, from what i understand, Leo was one frugal guy and parts got used up somehow even if it took years.
Even after he sold the biz to CBS, he was an employee there until 1970.

if it's a 1970, it could have very well been Comp Blue at one point and time. That's a shame.

Comp or Placid blue are always nice. Would love to see a transparent over that back grain. Don't let this one out of your sight.

Great score , i vote sonic or daphne for a refin or try lake placid blue that looks like the orig colour

yup, comp blue, daphene blue, surf green (slim chance but maybe), lake placid blue are the colors I'm thinking about.

Yah Pat, now that I got the neck off and see the neck pocket and the control plate off, it makes sense
that it was comp blue. That MAY BE what I get it restored back too.............

The pups sound GREAT, btw.....................
