Ok, so here's what I did (click for big):



It's 3am and I've been awake for 21 hours figuring this out, and surprise! It works! Or it seems to, rather. I've only string up the low-E in case there were some problems to troubleshoot, which there are. The bridge pickup and claw are buzzy (I think it's a problem with a cold solder joint on the bottom of the claw, it had that problem after I'd first switched the bridge pup out.)

Other than that, series/parallel works, and each volume pot works in conjunction with it's respective pickup. The neck volume pot controls both pickups when both are on it seems, but there's something fishy about the tone pots. It seems the neck tone only wants to function in phase, and the bridge tone only wants to function out of phase, or vice versa, I'm not sure.

I'll go back in and fix the ground on the bridge tomorrow to see what I've done.

I would REALLY appreciate a critique regarding this wiring diagram.

As expected, I ran out of wire and had to resort to using huge cloth wire. There's physically no more room for anything else in there now, with all of those wires crisscrossing every direction.

Argh, it doesn't seem to work all that well at all. I don't think the bass cut works, and the bridge volume is only operational when the phase switch is in the down position.

If anyone sees any glaring errors please let me know. I might just cut it down to a single volume, single tone and leave the roller knobs useless unless someone checks it for me.

Straying off track slightly here but i noticed someone mentioned changing the rythym circuit 500k pot to 1M matching them up, would make that circuit more useable? Would it not be easier to change the .001 cap for a .015?
Am i right in thinking it would make the circuit less dull?

Generally bigger pot or smaller cap = more treble.

So 500K to 1M works. 0.001 to 0.015 sounds wrong, sounds like that would roll off more treble?

the rhythm circuit tone pot is 50k, not 500k.

Ah, i thought i had it the wrong way round with the cap values.
So its a case of changing the 50k pot then?
Basically i have'nt been using the lower 3 switches as i cut my hand on them at the last gig (yeah, i know ) so i want the top circuit as standard.

yeah, changing the 50k tone pot to 1meg should give you the sound of the lead circuit. provided the capacitor is the same value.

Can i use a standard pot i ripped out another guitar or is it some daft sideways linear special or whatever?
I was reading that fitting a .015 orange drop cap is a popular single coil upgrade, thinking of trying that. I'd like more treble than at present but a 'warmer' sound would be nice.

i think they're reverse taper. i might be wrong, but i think so. they're also mini pots.

So I saw no replies after the mod was posted- Has anyone here actually done this mods? .......and how did it work? I have a Classic Player HH and it's obvious that the stock switches have to be replaced to do this mod. First post here and jumping into my jag electronics - hoping to get some positive response before I take the stock wiring apart> Thanks
