a really good starting point with nels is the song Impossible Germany, off the newest Wilco album. i also hear that his work on Contemplating the Engine Room by Mike Watt is also suppose to be among his best work, but i have only heard a song or 2 off it.

listen to the wilco song here..... just wait for the solo man

i agree but alot of his other stuff like the new nels cline singers album is a bit less axcessable than the wilco stuff. i really love Confection and Squirrel of God and Caved-In Heart Blues off the Draw Breath.

a pretty damn good song off the new nels cline singers album , draw breath called caved-in heart blues

ok, i watched this video:

i guess the playing is good, but i find the sound to be really cheesy and not at all to my liking.

bad sound in that video, yeah good playing tho. you really have to listen to that solo in its full context of the whole song to apprentice it , because it sound pretty gay alone, the opening note alone sounds gay but it fits so well with the song

i will upload some singers stuff via media fire tomorrow if ya want me to.

i'm totally not a lead guitar kinda guy but for some reason nels just does it really really perfect for me. i just picked up the new wilco album one day and fell in love

i listened to the studio version of that song. he's got some cool tricks, but really his playing does nothing for me. i just can't get into it.

his trem use reminds me of the guy from Quicksilver Messenger Service (definitely the coolest 60s san fran band), John Cipollina. He played an SG w/ bigsby though. interestingly enough he lists him on his 100 favorite guitarists list on his website.

John Cipollina is one of my favorite guitarists, way more interesting than Nels.

why does the paint flake off so easily? is it cause of the Nitro?

nitro doesn't flake. i think the story with aen/hurb's jag is that it's been refinished several times, poorly.
being a '69, it would've been finished in poly anyway. i think it was a faux-burst, too.

Your kinda wrong and kinda right.

Under the scratcher, it clearly has stamped in the wood D RED, What I surmise has happened is it was one colour, then went back to fender for a refinnish in dakota red. then however it went back for the faux burst(yes why would someone do that?) because the faux burst is defo fender the way it has been done. there is also the possibility that some of the dakota was left on under the faux(why they had to do the faux? originally faux burst was done to cover up lots of pieces of wood, however this body is clearly only 2 pieces !) then however faux bursts are notorious for flaking, and some clown has tried to cover this by painting black to try and cover the white undercoat! bizarre story but I am sticking to it!
