probably $300 like the rest of the vibe series.
I don't know about it being the new squier 51. these have alnico 5 pickups so they probably sound pretty good stock.

well, you would be able to tell when you picked it up because basswood is super light weight. but as a "tone wood" basswood is considered very good with similar qualities to mahogany.

my jagmaster is basswood and its a stretch to call it light.
it depends on the guitar i suppose.

RobRoe is gonna shriek at the plethora of gold on that thing and start cursing something about pastel colors.
I am going to bet that with a little tweaking, few guitars will be that much fun to play for under (the estimated) $300...ever.

these are 24" scale? i will buy one.
the color isn't quite right and looks closer to the '59 and later duos, but it still looks good. and 24" scale isn't right, but who cares? that might even make it more appealing.
i actually really really want one of these. it even makes me feel better about converting mine to a pink musicmaster rather than properly restoring it. which is what i'm in the process of doing.
and the only problem i have with basswood is that it's a little on the soft side and dents easier than alder/ash. but it's really not that bad. and i haven't noticed much (if any) of a tonal difference. i guess maybe if you were comparing several guitars that were identical save for the wood, then maybe you could tell a difference. but it'd have to be blind-folded, pepsi challenge style.

OMG - there is a God. Gold anodized guard, Alnico V PUPs, 1-piece neck, toploader.
THis puts all my other buying plans on hold - Pedals can get tah fuck, I'm buying this the second it hits Samash or MF.

regular 24" scale fender necks (jaguars, mustangs, etc.) have 22 frets. the first series of musicmasters and duo-sonics made from 1956 to 1964 have 22.5" scale necks with 21 frets.
i'd imagine that if this neck really is 24" scale (fender/squier have been known to publish false info on their sites in the past), then it probably isn't compatible with other 24" scale fenders.

I think he means like the new 24" "conversion necks" on the jagmaster II is 21 frets but the vista jagmaster was a real 24" neck with 22 frets. and I think the jaguar is 22 frets.
is the mustang 22 frets?
