I just wanted to see if it's one in stock in the local shop
If it's not an interview, don't worry bout it.

Just did a bit of digging on what Malko is using nowadays out of interest: seen a Z-Vex Oohwah II, Zexter FF & battered TS-9 in the studio, Fulltone Fulldrive and T-Rex Replica delay onstage.

It's about 4 sentences padded into a half page article.

Nope, I wasn't even a big Pavement fan when I got it, nor knew he had one.

I was only kidding.
What did he used to play in the Pavement days anyway?

I thought Malkmus was a Strat man.

Strats mainly. Spiral Stairs was a Tele guy.
Then he started to play a P90 loaded Goldtop towards the end of last decade and I'm not actually sure when he got the 60s Jazzmaster.

Mike: I'd be interested in a SHO that you build, but I live across the pond. Do you ship to USA? And also do you use paypal? Also, how much would you actually charge... I don't think I'd want to pay that much for something that is about $6 in parts, although I'd be happy to pay for the labor.
I got the Jazzmaster because I like them. It's only a happy coincidence that Malkmus plays a white one, but then again, so do plenty of other artists that I like (Nels Cline, Jeff Tweedy, etc.). I've just always liked white guitars, and they look the best onstage since they take the lighting so well. I think they are the best guitars that Fender USA currently makes that's not a Tele.
Malkmus plays a 70s black Strat, rosewood board and tort pickguard. He also plays a Gibson Les Paul gold top that has had the humbuckers replaced with P90s. His main guitar from Terror Twilight era until now is an old Jazzmaster that has had a few mods done to it -- including a buzz stop and a pickguard mod for the input jack. But his tone is always pretty similar regardless of which guitar he's using, since he always runs them through that Orange amp. Another thing he does is uses alternate tunings and plays without a pick.
I'm not trying to emulate the guy, I just thought he has a pretty cool tone.
OH, and the TS808 and TS9 definitely sound different. The TS9 colors the tone more and has more gain on tap. In the higher drive settings it sounds more like a distortion pedal than the 808, which retains the smooth character throughout the drive range.

Maybe the black Strat is a US tour guitar because the last two times I saw him it wasn't in action. The first time it was though with the Jazzmaster and the Les Paul.

He had a Stang for a bit, I think he lost it or something.. he used an SG for a bit around the Wowee Zowee period.. and some crappy LP in a music video. The same one that had Spiral Stairs rocking a MARAUDER! <3

Not the best video or song by any means..

Well it would cost considerably more than $6 in parts. You have to buy a Housing, 3PDT switch for true bypass + LED, DC jack, Battery Snap, Stereo input jack, mono output jack, the case needs to be drilled specifically, it needs to be painted (optional). The circuit may be simple but making it into a reliable handmade pedal with quality parts does not cost $6.
I'm quite busy at the moment but in a month or so I see myself making a SHO for myself if noone else wants is, if you're still interested then I'll happily sell it to you for a reasonable price.
