oh well, at least you were brave enough to post your mistake and didn't get burned that bad for it. Pun and all. :P

I've heard using steam is a trick, though not for long as it's no good for the wood.

Well for future reference, when removing a nut I score along the front and back edge of the nut with a very sharp craft knife, this will help to break the glue seal (and lacquer if it's a maple board) and then usually tap it out from the side with a small screwdriver and hammer. The main thing is never rush, impatience ruins all!

Your burnt nut is now my burnt nut!

Did it actually flame up and stuff? I've only lit a guitar on fire once (using a dremel on the back of my 335 copy - sawdust reached the right fuel/air mixture inside + heat and POOF!).

Any body want to guess how much Dave is going to sell this neck on Ebay for?

I'll say a new nut, and $40.

I would expect nothing less.

I'm gonna use this neck to make another "fun guitar" for me! It's gonna take a full resurface and refret.

i really don't get how it's going to need a full refret since it's just fucked up at the headstock...sounds to me like dddave over sold what was wrong with it to get a good deal out of tribi9...

No, it does need a bit of work. It needs to be stripped, and refinished. I don't know about a refret tho'. Might need to redo the fretboard too, cuz of the burns around the nut. Easy work for NOHO, but not for me.

You can't just sand the area around the nut and expect it come out right. At this point, the whole fretboard needs to be leveled.

would you sell me one of those too? or would it take you a long time to get the first draft done, and then you'd put up pic after pic of the book, while you held onto my money. then you'd send me a half-written book with a smart-assed note?
