+1

The guitar is nice but the paisley makes it kinda meh.....

The pic is a bit behind current progress, but it's the most recent I've seen and looks like it's going to turn out to be lovely.

I love Hockey stick headstocks.

I'll photoshop that steez shortly.

I'm thinking that mostly I'll be using the single coil pickguard, which will just be white/off-white/something like that. The paisley one is going to be for 2 humbuckers.

I quite like, and the picture has the added advatnage of no strat jack. But pink still wins for me. I'll photoshop the pink version for comparison if I can find a blank pick of the original material.

I couldn't find a blank tile of it like the blue one, so I just made it a bit messy getting rd of the middle pickup.

It looks good with solid colour too

I really like the blue one actually.
Great project - so nice to see something that's not classic Fender based.

the blue does look pretty good on there. and they're all better without the strat jack.

The more I look at it the more I like the blue. I'm still going to go with the pink one, but I woudn't be against having a blue as an alternative at some point. I'm thinking that there is probably better paisely still. Purple paisely = win.

This is amazing. I love the Paisley, and I actually think pink works better.

Considering I'd already made the file so all I had to do was a put a picture on alayer beneath, I had a bit of a play in photoshop. Being so minimal otherwise, it's a piece of piss to do great looking things with the pickguard and have it fit the design.

I'm so buying some sticker paper large enough to cover this. (these are all orientated for this view, I'd obviously rotate stuff 90 degrees so it looks cool when being played). The guitar also looks cooler when like that.

If I ever have it setup with just a bridge humbucker wired straight to the jack for no nonsense rock tones...

haha!
after about 4 hours(yes, literally) of radiusing the fretboard.
its fucking done!
zircoti is a great and very cool looking wood, but it gums up sandpaper FAST! and even tho its a type of rosewood its tight grained.
Image
this shit is straight up PRETTY!

and the stock has been re-fined a bit.
Image
here are the side dots, they are made of poplar dowels.
Image
they are all pretty damn straight cept for the 12th fret ones.
one of them pushed some of the zircoti back into the mohogany making it look..... strange.
but i have seen worse dots on factory guitars.
Image
NOW, im pretty confident that i can safely glue on the sides.

I was going to go to bed 10 minutes ago but I decided to stay up and play poker for half an hour or so. I'm extremley glad I did. God damn that looks nice. I was planning on just having the neck as dark as possible, ebony woodstain or whatever, but I'm going to finish it to bring out the grain. It'll still be dark but I won't be hiding the grain. Awesome choice on the zircotti.

The 12th fret might not be perfect in close up, but it looks fine in the more distant shot and it's only the slightly noticeable in close up. With the finish (might just lightrly oil the neck) it'll be a complete non-issue. Loving the use of wood for the dots.

The shot showing the radius and the tight grain of the fretboard has me excited.

Rob, you have excellent craftmanship. The attention to detail is superb.

well, i can actually probly, staighten up the dots.
i actually made a HUGE boo boo on one of them, have it lined up and ready to go, but when i turned on the drill press it moved the neck about 1 mm over and the dot was WAY off but! becuz the stuff is SO dark i filled it with epoxy and ebony dust and you can't even tell.
keep in mind that the first pic is how it actuall looks, the rest are kinda washed out to show how it looks under extremely bright lights and up close, the grain is fantastic looking, im a total sucker for crazy looking grain.
not really figured stuff, but cool grain.
im glad you dig it so far james, i have just now started to get back into a normal routine of work in the morning and and work at night, its a shitter to work 70 + hours a week, but one is a job, and the other is a passion(that sometimes costs more money than it should, but im not complaining, all the time anyway)
hek, since i have tomorrow off, i may go mill the wood and make up the wings.

I can't wait to see even the unshaped wings on there. It looks amazing already. Every time you get a new batch of pictures up it raises the bar slightly and surpasses my expections. You're basically doing everything I want in a guitar and doing it in ways better than I imagined. I suppose on the downside of that, if I get it and it plays like shit I'm going to be fucking gutted D:

Ouch, Don't think of it that way. Just think of it as " It plays differently than I imagined" D:

well, i can garentee you that before its sent out its going to play like butta.
but its hard telling what the ocean and shipping transit will do to the beast itself.
