I really wanted to play this when Arsecake and I went out to all the guitar stores here, but couldn't find one. The Guitar center douche acted like I was insane when I asked about it, then tried to switch me into a squier strat that would be "just like it probably".

Amazing, that happened almost exactly as it did to me while asking about the new VC series Tele at the Guitar Center in Covina this past mid-June, except the girl behind the counter wasn't as persuasive and ended up pulling out the 1st quarter 2008 Fender catalog for a futile search. I told her "look, it's not in there" and walked out, heading for In-n-Out Burger for a Double-Double value set.

That made me feel better.

People keeps saying this, i've never been good at taking compliments. Mainly because the derbyshire music scene is full of big headed ego fuelled nob heads. i never want to get into that circle.

But you can get a brand new Mexican Fender Strat for £280.

Have you ever tried a Mexican Standard Strat? They're probably worth half of what they cost. Brand name recognition. The exact same thing preventing you from enjoying the free sex party that is Squier's current output. Do yourself a favour and stay away from MIM standards, try out the new nicer Squiers at similar prices and tell me they aren't way cooler and less cumbersome, with more exciting options available.

I'm thinking the bridge pickup position won't be a problem for me. It's a single coil on a shortscale, fixed bridge, all-maple-neck'd fender style guitar. I'm actually glad it is where it is.

That angle is flattering. This one:

Not so much

Why didn't they place the pickups like the 60s ones?

yea, the reason i don't want it is the ugo guard. plus its shit brown. granted i don't have a shit brown color guitar yet to add to the rainbow rack but then again shit brown isn't really a color in the rainbow.

other than the color scheme i think it looks fine.

i think im more interested in the pine tele. i don't have a tele!

If I bought a vibe duo I'd put a black PG and mustang knobs on it. I don't mind the finish, it's just a bit much with the gold PG.

This picture is scaled to size, and then lined up over the bridge pickup. The neck pickup is at a different angle but the distance between the pickups is very similar.

I couldn't find a good shot of a vintage one. They were all at slight angles which made a more accurate picture pretty hard to get.

Innit.

Squiers are great quality and they are getting better at an alarming rate.
I'm with mike on this, i'd use one in a professional situation anyday.

maybe they were worried about aesthetics - maybe it just sounds better a bit further forward.

too close to the bridge = thin, bright, lower outout. an inch will make a big difference. strange it's not angled though.
