surely the only thing that matters is how it plays. why does the design matter when it sounds really good?
it's only $300 in the US, he may as well check it out at least.
Where do you think the tubes effect the sound of an amplifier the most in a practical situation? What would be the point in having them (expensive and reliability ridden as they are) if not to affect the sound?
i'm pretty sure cowbell's got a tube-driven orange.
i don't know...that's the only model i found that also has a 30 watt brother...no worries. i'd even rock a solid state amp if it was the right amp. i'm really thinking it will come down to the pro jr. or a deville...it just depends on how much of ballsack i want to plunk down. i'd even consider buying the deville and working out some kind of pro jr. + small amount of cash trade with ya.

i'll probably never get rid of the jr. . . it's too rad for its size. if you wanted to use it, however, that's another story. of all the amps i've owned, it's definitely the one i've loaned out the most.

hey, if it sondz kool, it sondz kool.
would a blues junior be able to keep up with your pro junior, and would it sond kool as a juxtipository amp? i'm seriously considering buying one new next month from MF and paying it off over a year...

i emailed that dude and BCC'd you with the hot rod deluxe. if he goes for 275, we should talk turkey. we could do a "temporary trade" where you play the deluxe and I play the pro jr. and if you love the deluxe enough, straight up trade that shizznot.
I've played something similar, don't know which series, and it was fucking immense. and for TWO HUNDRED dollars, an 18w tube amp combo with a 2x12" to me, it's stupid to NOT try it...the only fucked part is that they aren't in stock until the 15th of september, damnit! if it were available now, i'd be ordering that shizz up.
Has anyone heard anything about the valvetronix series from Vox? I know that the idea of a tube pre stage and a SS amp stage is weird or lame to some...but i had an amp that was similar in that way (A Roc Pro 1000 that i miss dearly!), and i thought it sound pretty great. i'm not into amps that also model other amps per se...but for the price and what it could do for me and the project, they also intrigue me as an alternative to the crate V series...of course if i could afford a fucking better fender combo or something, i'd do it...but but the valvetronix line does interest me a little...i'm going to go demo a couple after work...so just curious if ya'alls has any thoughts/experience?
They are good recording amps, I 'll probably buy one as my next amp so I can practise late at night and get a little bit more variety when I'm recording.

yeah, they seem really cool and versatile for the money. and since the project i'm in plays everything from punk to metal to country to raggae, it seems to make sense to get funky with it.
Looking forward to a demo. How loud does the 30VT go? That's the one I'd probably go for.
pretty fuckin' loud really. what sold me was:
a)30w + tube pre (if the stock 12AX7 sucks ass, it gets exchanged for a better one)
b)built in power break so i can back it all the way down to 5w
c)the effects don't sound lamegay at all
d)the amp "models" are really distinct and different without fagocity
A serious competitor in the premium amp market, at a fraction of the price!
The Blues Custom 30 combo takes the competition down at the knees with pro performance and features at a phenomenally low price. Dual-channel 30W AB operation (pentode), or 15W Class A operation (triode) plus independent or interactive tone controls and specially designed Lady Luck 12" speakers by Eminence are impressive enough on paper, but when you hear the tonal quality and feel the organic interactivity, you won't believe your ears. The tube rectifier provides bluesy sag while tube-driven reverb sounds incredibly natural. 3-band EQ plus added mid control on the hot channel lets you dial in hard-hitting definition. 12AX7 preamp tubes with DC powered filaments operate very quietly.
