I was about to say all I bought was the Bronco this year, but there was the matter of 3 acoustics. Consider it a relapse. I did almost buy an LP.

I have phases. I haven't bought a guitar for a while (well the Mercury was received recently, but I don't count that as it was ordered ages ago) and I've even got rid of a guitar, which admittedly I swapped for a Tiny Terror.
There has been a steady flow of pedals though. Think I'm pretty happy with my set up, so major purchases will be few and far between, though there is one in the pipeline which I'll keep you posted on...

Not at all. It's all down to colour and condition, as you'd expect. Viking Is in sunburst are by far the most common, especially those with metal bridge posts. The bridge affects the sound considerably, so you might wanna consider that. Metal bridge base= brighter, more bite, more garagey. Look out for stress cracks in the top between the neck pocket and pickup, although folding is more of a problem for Viking 12-strings. The black one in minty condition was £950, which is a silly amount but I was feeling flush. As a result I look at the thing more than play it. Sound Control in Denmark St have a black one from the same batch as mine in below-average condition for £1200, which cheered me up yesterday. The red was £275, which I think was a bargain as it's been played-in beautifully. Had a crappy replacement bridge that I got a luthier friend to swap for a wooden-base tunematic... here, when it's working.

Don't settle for the stang if you don't want to, bro, they're not too hard to find, just hard to find for the right price.

Placing the order for the custom "Anniversary Tele" was a bit of a stretch, knowing we've plenty of darn great guitars...Then came the LP 7-stringer surprise clear out of the blue, which is wonderful in its own way and is presently more "useful" (a word not easily definable in this context) than for example our Jaguar. I'm more than ecstatic that a fully-paid-for thinline custom beauty is going to be showing up in about 2 weeks, but am starting to question the practicality of a room full of 6-stringed coupletones generators, since every tone we've needed is beginning to most definitely dovetail between the guitars. That said, when thinking straight I reckon that I'd honestly do better to rid one or two to make room for (in my mind) a fretless bass with piezo saddles. [/sigh]

The desire to acquire besets us all, and those who can let go when necessary may be wiser than their years. BUT LET GO OF WHAT? That nostalgic first guitar? Self control? That extra Franken-Strat? Reason itself?

I still haven't got it figured out.

i'm soon to be in the unfortunate position of having to decide what to cull... and it's not going to be easy. every guitar i buy is 'the last one', but it never is... i'm going to end up in the position of having nothing but mustangs/duos/musicmasters because i love them so much, and i'll end up selling guitars that are a little bit different sounding just to hang on to the fenders. it's not fair! i want to keep them all!

I'm new and I can't even find my shit, at least the first one, but yeah. this year I bought a relic strat (scottsrelicguitars), a 1968 gibson J_160e, a fabulous agile 3000(recommend highly....save money on les paul), a leslie 16 tone cabinet (fucking love it, though I had to do a lot of work to get it run right) and lastly.....
my fabulous 1959 duosonic. she's desert saand, think neck, slabboard, and she is most assuredly my favorite.
This has to stop. I have taken to saying lately that my GAS is in remission, but hanging around this site is getting it going again...dear me.

I'd run out of GAS. Everything was going so well. A decent bass, 9 guitars, 3 marshall heads, sweet pedalboard, I had everything I wanted.

"I'll just get a little drumkit," I thought quite innocently.

My wallet is an empty shell of a personal organizer. It cries when I stand up. My credit card has grown arms and holds on for dear life screaming "FUXSAKE NOOO, I'LL LEARN HOW TO SUCK YOUR DICK, ANYTHING!" whenever I leaf through an MF catalogue or something.

I thought we all agreed that instead of saying we have GAS for something, we were gonna say we were GAY for something.

Seriously... GAS is a stupid term used by old people who only buy strats, and by people on offset.

I did the same stuff when I had money and no bills - bought ass loads of guitars all the time. Now I'm burdened with having to sell them all at loss so I can get good quality stuff I will actually use.

I'm getting a tweed Princeton and a nice side-address Sennheiser dynamic mic to use with it - I'd like to say "fuck it" after that and just keep that rig forever.

The only stuff I'm GAY for right now is some recording stuff. I'd like to get a computer recording interface with at least 4 channels. Then a ribbon mic for vocals. Maybe a stereo preamp as well.
