I've been through a lotta this... There's so much history to SS.org that you either gotta research or stop worrying about it. For the most part, the jokes answer TONS of questions. Some of the coolest people on here are from offset, though. Not all the cool people, just an important few.

If they are, then they're wrong.

Even if I sign in it's still "off limits". Probably due to a post count limitation.

Offset is so lame.
That's actually the same as here. If I link someone to a pub thread they won't be able to see it if they aren't registered, and the classifieds they'll need to reach the post count.

So it's in Classifieds?

But we have credibility, and should be allowed to view anything on the internet as a virtue of being signed up to this grand forum. The internet needs to recognise our superiority.

They have a system wheres theres a "for sale" forum, a "wanted forum" and then an "ebay links" forum (for non-affiliated ebay links, ones you make yourself go in the normal for sale one) and it's in the ebay section. They group those three forums together into what they call the 'guitar shop' and that section of the site has the 50 post minimum. It's not the most logically to have to make 50 posts to see ebay links other forum members have noticed, especially because they're often about dodgy ebay auctions (refins being advertised as original finish, that sort of thing).

I've heard of sellers adopting this as an actal sales tactic. It works like this;

You get a guitar, relic it up good and take some average photos of it.

Put an ad on ebay saying you found it in your attic/got it in a will reading etc etc.

Make it uber obvious you know nothing about guitars by misspelling "Fenda" or put "pre ABC" etc, This stops them from being hit with Paypals "item not as described" clause.

Write your description like youre a stupid 6 year old, it helps bring in anyone with a "this idiot has no clue hat he has! WOOP!!" frame of mind.
