The Livesley Green Ringer Clone is the best all around pedal period.

Turdscreamer reminded me...I built a fuzzbox from a diagram in an electronics mag when I was about 16. Imagine my surprise when it actually worked - even with the approximately two kilos of solder used - in a full-on kind of Grand Funk Railroad (is that an obscure early 70s reference?) way. Beeing a complete fucking moron, I housed the gizmo in a dinky sweety tin with cute puppies on the lid, which I confidently gaffa'd down.
Gig. First stomp. Completely fucking squashed. Caved in. Very loud extended farting noise which could only be stopped by repeatedly jumping on the puppies.
End of pedal-building aspirations.

I dont think it's a very good all-round pedal at all. Even if you like what it does it doesn't really do anything beyond mild overdrive. If by best all-round pedal you're looking at versatility there are plenty of dirt boxes that completely destroy it.

I believes I covered all of this in the first post:

Anyway, the msot versatile pedal I've ever used dirtwise would probably be the mudhoney.
It does low gain, on the edge of grit sounds all the way to thick fuzz. One tone knob, but it's a useful tone knob that keeps the low end for most of the dial.

the most versatile dirtbox i've ever used is the fulltone distortion pro (i've wittered on about it loads of times before). it's got 4 tone modelling knobs plus the standard gain one. the possibilities are nigh on endless. it's the only pedal i own i'd never, ever, ever sell. unless i was addicted to heroin and needed a bit of smack. but that's unlikely.

I agree with you 100%....I don't think you can beat a Rat. I've got an old vintage one and had a modern "Vintage Rat" model and they both were absolute tits.

Fulltone OCD for OD, or the Fairfield Barbershop.
I really want to make the best tubescreamer clone ever...and name it "the douche tone".

You do know what clone means, right? That there's no difference...

That's a douchey comment, and you know what he was getting at, so why post it?

It's not douchy, it's fact. Many pedals are Tubescremers at heart and then made to be awesome. Quit complaining.

It was pedantic and you know it. Fiveways doesn't post here much but he's a legend. He has exquisite taste in pedals and has owned a whole heap of very rare stuff.
I would argue that most of the pedals that are Tubescreamers are heart are still awful. Only a few of the boutique modifications are worth investigating, and none of them are worth the price people ask.
Then again your username does include "808" and you work for a company that makes a so-called Tubescreamer Clone so I'm hardly likely to get any objectivity out of you here.

Actually the 808 comes from Roland, as in, the drum machine, not the Tube Screamer.
Good for him if he's a legend, but don't pretend like I just got racist and insulted his mother. It's a lighthearted joke, get over it.

Sorry I guess I should have used BASED on a TUBESCREAMER instead of clone. It was late.
Though clone with part upgrade works as well. Modded tube screamer, cloned, there is probably a arguement that could be made for any term here. In the end all I think of are the dude who ride the pet. for hours where i work.
