The Deluxe models with the humbuckers/ josh hommebuckers like on my white one have Dimarzio Dual sound pickups and are coil tapped so you can get a clean or distorted pickup sound. It sounds similar to a dimarzio super distortion. The 3 switches are for on/off of the dual sound and for in/out of phase.

I dunno Matt, i've played some nice old Aria Pros, and Westones for that matter. They all came from the same factory anyways.

I currently have my girlfriend's uncle's Westone Prestige 117, which is a similar idea except neck through. It was built at that same factory in 1984. It's awesome. One of the best guitars I've ever played, and certainly the best rock guitar I've ever played. The knobs alone are class.

Aye. It's annoying, because I have no idea how "mine's" it is. The uncle gave it to my girlfriend, and now I live with her.
I suppose I may as well just propose to her so's I can marry the guitar.

Westones are still dirt cheap and by todays build standards they are a £500 guitar. Way way better build than Epi, PRS SE, Squier....

How much do you reckon this one's worth? I've always wondered.

Im not sure if the Prestige was matsumoku made or not, i suspect it was and with the binding and stuff i imagine about £150 - £250. I think Erics brother has one of these in red, it looks the same or it may be a Spectrum model.
The later Westones went shite and nobody wants them, i got a BC Mockingbird Westone copy for £35 and when it arrived i understood why.

I almost got a westone strat copy for £120 a while back, nice neck and nice body. But wasn't really for me.

That's a reassuring price. Now I feel less bad rocking the fuck out on it. As far as I know, the 117 was only made in '84, and so was made at the Matsumoko factory. It sounds fucking awesome and is solid as fuck either way.

Red one might be the 227. They came in red and blue, had black hardware and an ebony fingerboard.
