I really don't know why someone doesn't make saddles just like the real vintage one's. they're perfect. Each saddle is a little bigger than the new ones, so there's no space between the saddles, they dont buzz, they sustain better. and they just look more solid. Ive tried vintage ones new imported WD cheao ones, and graph tech, and that little tiny bit more metal makes a bigger differenc than anything else. graphtech are the worst. there's so much space between the saddles they float all over the place

Sonic Youth are using them - that's a pretty good endorsement right?

Here's a Thurston jazzy with the bridge on:

Are you kidding?

Sonic Youth also make atonal boring music, even their die-hard fans would struggle to suggest they still justify their own existance based upon their recent output. I would say it's every reason to discard them.

A more fitting bridge for sonic youth would be a drum stick.

Or one that is incomplete, but goes over a large gorge so they can all plunge to their deaths.

Rolf. No love for SY then? I find it quite ironic that they of all people would go for the most expensive option, i always got the impression they were against that kind of thing. Low-Fi diy band using $160 bridge lol.

Whether you personally like them or not is completely irrelevant.

It's a good endorsement because like them or not, they own and play more Jazzmasters and Jaguars than any other professional band. Also they've been around around 20 years and also use strange gauge strings, so they really must know all the in's and out's of the current bridge system. It obviously doesn't work for them (they usually install tune-o-matics), so if Lee or Thurston say this is as good as a TOM I'm willing to believe them.

More than likely, its a good marketing trick. Afterall there is an outside chance they will use it and then people like aphasiac will see it and want one

if it cost $30 and was a genuine alternative to a Mustang bridge, I would buy one for my Jag-Stang.

But that for that price, they can go swivel! That said, 2 people on offsetguitars.com have bought them

Chances are Wilco or SY didn't pay a dime...that's the best part about being rich and famous, all the free stuff!

I think it's likely they've only sold a few.

They've either made say 100, and have sold 20, and are pretending to be sold out to imply a bit of a buzz and create demand with that buzz, or they've made 20 and sold them all.

I know people at other forums will own jazzmasters and jaguars, but here and offset are the main two places. If no one here has one ordered, and only two guys at offset do, it makes you wonder where the rest are. I imagine a lot of 'the gear page' types who own jazzies will also post at offset too. People who don't post at forums like these will be unlikely to be so up to date with the fact these are available. The offset thread was only started yesterday, and the same here too.

It's just a stupid price. A drop-in bridge (it's not even a complete bridge system, it needs the tremolo system from the Jazzy or Mustang or a stoptail behind it) for 160$ is just crazy talk. That's two Seymour Duncan pickups.

Not only that, the stock bridge is fully functional. Its not like when badass or PRS improved the design of the traditional wrapover bridge that usually would never intonate correctly.

It's like a russian dolly: undo Fran and there's Euan inside; undo Euan to discover Imran Moghul. Then peel off Imran's mask to reveal...

Old Fran is still here dude, their version of the wrapover is an industry favourate and i happen to like wrapovers.
