I like the middle with single coils and bridge with humbuckers.

in rehearsal or playing live- bridge single coil ALWAYS. if i'm recording i'll double some stuff up with the neck pickup, but i generally favour a thin sound.

I've always been more of a bridge, single coil kind of guy. It's always given me the most clarity. That being said, I LOVE my Tele with both of the pickups on.

the neck position on a jaguar is my favorite sound, so i use it mostly. i still use the bridge position a bunch, but i rarely use both together.

Most of my guitars are s/s/h or s/h.

I'm use the classic trick of neck SC for rhythm parts -> switch to bridge humbucker for chorus/lead

both single coils most of the time, occasionnally just the bridge pickup for single note stuff than needs more bite/nasal tone on my stang. never really the neck one alone.

on my hondo i sometimes use the neck one alone with the tone knob rolled all the way back and lots of fuzz for qotsa like tonez (single note stuff behind the twelfth fret basically) :P

On my Tele custom I use both pickups together for pretty much everything... I occasionally use the bridge single coil on it's own for lead stuff, but I've never used the neck humbucker on it's own for anything...

Bridge humbucker unless I'm recording clean parts, then its the mini humbucker in the neck. Sometimes I'll split the bridge coils for leads. I will say that after using the bridge pickup for ages I'm starting to get more attracted to using the neck pup but I haven't made the switch yet.

I really love the sound of the neck pickup on my SSS strat. On the Mike-strat I use the Bridge pup (JB JR) as the reason I have it in that guitar is because i Dont have a Hum equipped guitar. I used to use the neck on my Jaguar too but I loved the bridge pup on my tele, it sounded like no other guitar.

I never really use any combinations of pickups except when I'm playing (and fucking up) little wing or something with that "sound".

Oh and when I had my Jag-stang I was a grunge-choad so used the bridge pickup because single coils "sucked".

depends what guitar and if i'm playing clean or not. for general riffs/rhythm, i'm all about a bridge pickup. for leads, neck pickups are great. for clean stuff, i like neck or both.

generally I love the bite from bridge singles. but I quite like neck humbuckers at times.

Progrockabuse wrote:the strat is really strange, i tend to only use either the neck or the bridge. never really use the in between or middle positions much. the neck is very warm sounding, but with enough bite for lead work. the bridge pickup verges into humbucker territory, it's a really fat sounding pickup.
There's something very tight and reedy sounding about the inbetween strat settings that just irritate me.

For me, neck single when clean or heavily fuzzed, bridge single for overdriven.
I usually set the neck with the tone rolled off, the middle with no tone and then just use the 5 way switch to quickly select whatever tonal option I choose. I used to hate the in between positions too but I've started to appreciate them more recently. they sound like a pretty bright humbucker, almost like a gretsch.

if you really hate the 2 and 4 positions you can just wire it with a 3-way switch, vintage strat style.

Lead Circuit on Jag > Neck pickup = 8)
Best tone i've ever heard (or played?).

So you guys switch it up in the middle of a song? I've never gotten the hang of that. But I just play with a drummer unaccompanied so it's hard for me to dick aroung with my guitar during a song. I love bridge single coils. With the amp and guitar dialed in you can coax a variety of tones with just your hands.

single neck on clean and single bridge on crunch. sometimes both with chorus added :D
but i mostly play clean, so it's the neck pickup i play mostly then.

i've always preferred the bridge humbucker... i have it on all my guitars. i do use the neck and switch to single coils, depending on what sound i want... but most of the time, i wind up with just a bridge humbucker.

Bridge 'bucker on my Mustang, but I'd use the bridge single if it were still there

I'm slowly learning to love the neck pup on my jaguar. I messed about with the height earlier to get a bit more of a balanced sound, and with the champ turned up it sounds delish.

If we are talking just guitar I use my neck Mini-HB on my Squier Vintage Mod. Tele the most by far. On my basses I would honestly say all get used equally...
