When my brother was tech'ing for New Order during a tour Barney told him about a proper snide trick Hooky pulled on the guy that ran the main New Order fan site. This guy had bought one of those Hooky signature basses he plays now, brand new, and he'd got in touch with Hooky and asked if it would be alright to swap it for one of his well-played in versions. Hooky didn't really like the guy, they'd met a few times, so he set up a meeting in a graveyard. He turned up without one of his basses, took the guys bass, gave the excuse that his stuff was all in storage, and left. It took him nearly a year to send the guy one of his old basses, apparently.

There are several fantastic videos on Youtube of a sweaty, gurning Hook punching the air and working the faders during one of his DJ sets, oblivious to the fact that the mixer isn't even plugged in and he's miming to a tape. I very much enjoyed Mani's Twitter (and Freebass) flameout:
