on my mustang i'll do that sometimes and then twist the trem bar so it's pointing away from the neck and then push the trem bar down and pull it up

I tuned my jassmaster EBEBBE all the time to do the similar trick.

my G and B string are tuned GG and those bits are me playing a fret apart. so the first high pitched bit is G 3rd fret and G 2nd fret and then a twist of the trem.
