This Years Want List.

I have only ever bought one planned guitar and one planned amp. I've still not got that BLOODY TELECASTER. This mustang came up and I couldn't pass it up, I'm gonna be sixty when I finally get my hands on one.Nick wrote:That really is truly the case. The only guitars I have now that were "planned" were my Danelectro 12 string and my Windsong acoustic. Mainly because I simply wanted a 12 string guitar, and I wanted an acoustic guitar. The Ovation, Gibson LP Studio, Ibanez Blazer, and even the Hagstrom Viking II were all random purchases that just came about seeing the guitar hanging on the wall in a shop. Other instruments that I did plan didn't work out so well......the burgundy mist strat with gold sensors and piezo, the dark green tele with Squier Japan bullet neck, the white/tort MIM fretless Jazz Bass, The 6 String Danelectro Baritone, All those were premeditated but I think I didn't like them because the anticipation of owning/playing them was more interesting than the end result. On the other hand I had an equal number of impulse buys that I flipped in a month's time. I guess it's all part of learning what I like and don't like. Apparently I don't like fenders as much as I like looking at them. I never would have guessed I'd ever fall for a les paul of all things, but it suits me perfectly.Zaphod wrote:Stopped making want lists since guitars and amps always pop up out of the blue and put off the list until the next year.
I want my mustang to get here faster. That is all.
That having been said I know I love rickenbacker basses, so I might be the least disappointed if I just take the plunge, even though I'd feel stupid for buying such a nice bass and not being a bassist, in the scheme of things it's not like it'd go down in value, and better to get something I'd be happy with than another fender/squier that I know I'd hate once the newness wore off.
I think the reason I don't buy anything planned it because I look around for ages for the best price and best model or whatever then something pops up that's got some sort of time limit and I jump on it in the midst of searching for the other thing, pushing it back again.
yeah i'll start w/ pics as soon as i get moneys to order a few parts and other stuff.silly_rabbit_band wrote:Good luck on that YOU MUST POST PROCESS PICS!
And yeah if you did a relic that would be a MASSIVE FAIL!
i have no love for relicing if its ever "relic'd" then it'll be from years of playing.

I was kind of this way with a Jazzmaster or Jaguar for the longest time, which in hindsight I'm glad I didn't get because they're really not my thing. I still would like a mustang or something and I started my lust for one like 6 years ago. Again though I think I'd end up disappointed. I'm happier with things that find me. It's a more interesting relationship. Except for danos, I love most every dano reissue I've played and they're cheap enough not to have buyers remorse.Zaphod wrote: I have only ever bought one planned guitar and one planned amp. This year is quite a big 'un for me. We've almost finished out E.P. which I've been writing and working on for the past 10 odd years... it's one of those 'I just want to get this fucking thing out there' dealios. After that's done with, I'm revamping my setup and I've already started to make changes.
My Telecaster will have a Gibson PAF in the neck and a Nocaster bridge pickup. Which paves the way for a Jaguar. I've been missing my MIJ but ever since the release of the Classic Players I think I've finally found 'the other' guitar to go along with my Tele. The larger fret radius = <3.
So basically, this years shopping list will go as follows-
Fender Classic Player Jaguar (+$200AUD to refinish it to Fiesta Red)
Fender Jaguar AV pups
Fender Jaguar AV trem
Gibson PAF
Fender Nocaster Bridge pup
And besides that, all I really need are pedals. Not as bad as some others I guess as I've only ever been a 'two guitar at a time' guy. Amp wise, I'm sorted with my AC15 and Acoustasonic Ultralight acoustic amp. Last year I had to completely overhaul my entire rig which kind of sucked... next year it's more about making what I have more flexible.
