Hahaha, amazing. Good work, Watson.Zaphod wrote:It's the exact one, picture from one of the puppet toons where the cheat plays it:Doog wrote:Oddly enough, I know for a fact that the Brothers Chap use one of them (or something very similar)- every now and then I hear noises from my childhood within Homestar toons. Most awesome.
I know wayyy to much about home star runner, seriously, it consumed my life for a long time.

i'm thinking of making a 'digital vintage organ' using my akai MPC2000 and the philicorda or the vox. what i thought was, make 10 second samples of each key of an organ and either assign them to the pads or hook up a small controller via MIDI and use it to play the samples. it would depend how much RAM i've got in the sampler, but i'd probably have space for 2 or 3 octaves. i'd quite like to use an organ for a change on a few songs but i can't be bothered carting heavy keyboards around. thought it could be a cool idea, still having vintage organ tones but without the backache or having to shell out on a nord electro or similar.

they're really intuitive for drum programming, i must say. the tiny screen gets on my tits a bit, but you get used to it.
that video's cool as fuck! that's similar to what i was thinking with the organ sound, but recording each note individually rather than sampling one sound then pitching it about.
fuck, just checked the readers ads on soundonsound.com, they're still selling for about £450.

I saw a Roland MV-8000 in a pawnshop today, good grief, I had no idea it was that huge. It looked like an MPC rip-off except much bigger. It looks like a piece of studio gear, not the type of thing you take to school and your friend's house to make some beats. The MPCs got bigger too, for no reason but the MV is enormous.
I didn't have time to test it out, but it was like $800

yeah, those things are enormous. they do look quite impressive, just in no way portable. $800 seems a good price, you'd be looking at £1000 second hand here (about $1400).jcyphe wrote:I saw a Roland MV-8000 in a pawnshop today, good grief, I had no idea it was that huge. it's very battered, i got it from a miners welfare. only the strings and the brass are playable, the parts of the tapes where the choirs are suffered from a tape chew. only a 3rd of the choir works. the place that made them is still in business in birmingham, i want to take it there to be repaired.
