I'm just going to ask him if he'd ever heard of NOHO. If he says yes, I'll tell him I'm a shortscale member, and we'll have a laugh. If not, I'll make sure that he knows to avoid them like the plague.

I wouldn't do either. If the guitar is as advertised you are golden... Most of NoHo's problems were dime delays and improper fitting (mostly of cusotm style projects that are always a little tough)...It was the lack of communication on this stuff and the poor repsonse wheen there were problems that turned alot of people off.

The only thing I'm worried about is:

Image

The two circles on either side of the strings near the nut. They extend to the other side. It looks like two holes were drilled through it.

That's weird, but I wouldn't put to much thought into right now, just wait and see whats up with that.

Exactly. Even if it's drilled out and refilled, I don't mind. It's a 70's Fender for $400. With a crazy trem, no less.

Still an insane deal. ((thumup)

String retainer, I thought. Perhaps a sustain freak - or might the nut be bad?

The more I look at it, the more it just looks like the previous owner just drilled it out and filled it with glue for no reason.

string retainer seems likely, god knows why you'd want one on a bronco.

Plenty. NAMM ticket debacle for a kick-off.

If I were a betting man, I'd bet the holes are from previous owners putting guitar straps on the headstock, My Coronado has holes all over it from the assholes of past ownership, including the back of the headstock and several places on the body.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, now its "relic'd" so now its worth twice as much!

DDDave's not a Bronco fan. I think he's from CA. This is a football reference. Besides, his descriptions are different, and frequently misspelled. I think one of those holes was from the string tree, but they may have had some shite locking geegaw on there. At that price you have NOTHING to regret. That is an airtight deal.

I think they installed a bar-style string retainer as someone else said, probably thought it would make the trem keep better tune than the stock string tree. The holes going all the way through the headstock is shameful, though.
Still, the price is right.

Either way that is a good deal... as long as it is the original body and neck like everyone said. It is quite possible that it is DDDave too... He did get me to pick up a set of reissue F tuners from my local shop for him not too long ago.

Whatever it is, I'll report to you guys with some better pictures once it arrives. I'm really glad that I got one with a reverb handle - I can't wait to try out the famous Bronco trem.
