That's my whole point. The distinction between them is derived from prejudice. All the 50s and 60s Fenders that people covert were build in a Factory by Mexican labour < 200 miles from the current Mexican Factory. From my perspective as a guitarist, I make my own mind up based upon guitars I have played, as does Fran. He has played many Fender and Squier guitars of all origins and knows what he is talking about when he says that the quality of these new Chinese Fenders/Squiers is a vast improvement on the original output.

Aye. Im not doubting the capability of any origin, just pointing out an improvement on past quality issues. Its common knowledge some of the Chinese stuff was garbage and the fact Tokai dealers feel the need to tell consumers the new Chinese range is built under Japanese supervision proves this.
Btw, the four Korean built guitars i own are as good as anything in my collection.

the only chinese guitar i have is my j.s. and it stands tall in my collection, mainly becuz of the neck on it, just amazing.

now all we need is a squire Duo Sonic II reissue. DEW IT.

Yes, it' a nice little guitar. I sold my korean Squier Tele after I bought it. It is great for all sorts of rythm guitar play, from soft to rough. Only thing I don't like are the medium jumbo frets. And it definitely needs 11' strings.

what irritates me is the way fender pretends it cant make certain colors on certain guitars from certain factories.

for instance, why no sherwood green MIM jazzmaster? id already own one.

they save that for the AV so i have to drool over them and take out a loan and ruin my finances to get one.

also, the way they put the S/N on the front of the headstock on mexstd models, just to betray their lowly place in the range. you pay 300 dollars more for a 60s strat, say, mostly just so the headstock will look right. or at least i imagine thats what their logic is.

I've always wanted one of those duos' Thats probably the next guitar I buy.
But William you could always just sand off the decal. and if you want a Sherwood Green Jazzmaster just refin.

right, of course. its more about fender's practices then not having a solution.

plus, to get a MIJ or MIM jazzmaster and then have it pro refind, i might as well get an AVRI.

my point is that any of the factories could make any of the guitars, pretty much. im sure that the chinese factory could make a 52 AV tele with the same decals and youd never know. its all CNC'd wood, you know?

I think the newer MIM standards have the serial number on the back of the headstock, if I'm not mistaken.

Have Fender actually said they're unable to paint certain colours in certain factories? We all know it's because they can't be arsed to do so, but I don't think they've ever actually denied that.

to me it seems obvious that they put the cooler colors on the pricier guitars so that i have some reason to want them. honestly, i dont care where its made as long as it plays nice and is a cool color. most fenders can play well, pickups are easily changed to get kewl tonez, but its the fucking color you lust after.

Very true. I guess that technically you can change the colour yourself, but that's a hell of a lot of work! I never understood Fender's reluctance to offer more choice in their palette. I mean, all they have to do is put a different colour paint in their spray guns, right? It's not like they have to retool the whole factory. If the Japanese can do it, why can't the American/Mexican operation do it?
