If he's going to pay £950 plus shippig and insurance, I'd bite his hand off. You could chuck £200 in the house kitty (maybe go to Ikea?) and still get something lovely made for you.

I'm not interested in Matamps, Tim. This is my Matamp.

Did I say Matamp? Did I?

I don't understand what you mean by "get something lovely made for you"?
If you knew my tastes I think you could guess what I would have made for me if I could have a custom made amplifier.

This reads a little like an angry wife line...

You're still missing the point.

No, no I'm not. Just liked the fact that you sounded a little like my wife when she's cross. I know that this is your holy grail amp, and you're dead chuffed with it, for good reason. I just wonder if for that money you could sell it, buy another the same and still profit. But it's all aggro, and doesn't take away from the fact that it's ace you've been offered that much.

Well the thing is that you just don't see them in this condition (and unmodified) very often. I think this is why he's slathering at my knicker elastic over it, and if I was to find one in the exact same nick, it would probably cost £600-700 on ebay (I doubt one will just show up in a local shop for a whiiiile). Which would mean a net profit of -950 - 650 = £300 as and when I could find one. However that's not exactly a given, neither is me parting with £650 for an amp I know I paid £499 for once. Basically as and when I sell this amplifier, it will be me admitting openly to myself that I will not be rebuying it. It will be cashing in on it once and for all.
Plus it's an '81 and all that shit.
And you realise people at Doogfest would castrate me if I sold this before August, right?

it's either jcm800 or rusty garden shears next doogfest.
you know what to choose.

Money aint everything. Keep the amp. Esp with the birthyear and great condition.
Yeah you might be able to sell it and eventually get another one. Maybe doesn't always cut it.
See if he has a sexy vintage guitar to throw in!

Tell him you'd trade for a vintage Jag. Or flog it and buy a big Orange.
(space below for Stewart to post a big picture of citrus fruit).

I might let him know that's what I would be interested in and see if he comes back with another offer.

Well good luck. I'm sure if you do get rid of it, the deal will be most impressive.

Aw, c'mon now, you can't get rid of it. It's a dream amp.
Is there any amp you'd rather have? Is there any other amp that you might feasibly buy down the road that'll make you stop regretting selling this one?

That's how I feel about it Paul, that's the reason I'm not really interested in selling it and have expressed no real interest. The only thing I would want instead of this amp is a Vintage Jaguar. It will probably only be sold when I'm financially fucked for whatever reason I reckon.
