got my transparent OD today and tried it out earlier. basically, i A/Bd it with my ibanez TS5 (little plastic tubescreamer-y thing) and it sounds incredibly similar. it's a tiny smidgeon more er, transparent, and obviously the tone controls have a bit more range with the stacked pot, but other than that they're very, very alike. honest!
i think there's something about those little soundtank pedals, i've played one of those tone-lock tubescreamers and it sounded mince. for £20 i've had a lot of use out of it. shame it's made of gypsy beads, the switches break eventually.
anyway....... i'll test the dano properly at rehearsal on wednesday and if all goes well i'll take it to my gig on friday.

It's good, but, and this is important, it's not as good as the fuzz.

i don't need a fuzz though, i need something that sounds like my soundtank but with a reliable switch at that stage of my setup, basically a slight boost with a touch of drive, and something that won't overload my distortion pro when i cascade them.
if i had space on my board i'd be tempted, but every inch is a prisoner at the moment.

I'm totally dissapointed in these new Dano pedals. They don't have anything sonically that's interesting. I can't wait for a new round of this style or something new all together.

I now have the Danelectro Cool Cat Fuzz, Drive and Vibe pedals. For the money, it was a no-brainer.
Your YouTube videos for the Fuzz and Drive pedals were especially helpful. Now, I'm wanting the Transparent Overdrive, too. Bravo! Keep up the good work.

For those of you who like these, Amazon is offering a 3-pack deal on these pedals with the following:
Looks like the Tremolo, Transparent Overdrive, and Vibe all for $79.99. MF has the 3-pack for $99.99.
The three pedals bought seperate would be be $140.
That's a great deal, J. The Vibe and Tremolo are excellent.

It just didn't really do it for me, but my tastes in Overdrive are pretty narrow.
But yeah. BURN!

I'm still pretty happy with mine, despite completely hating OD most of the time. Had I not dialed in a perfect Kinks/garagerawk tone on it within the first day, I probably would have flipped it.
I need to find and finish that mosfet boost and perky fuzz that I'd made PCBs for. I might sell the TOD if I get those running.

The Transparent Overdrive gets my support in the bright department, simply because I love how it makes my single coils "angry".
I've been using the Dist(a.k.a. Monstortion) a lot lately too, goes great with the JCM2000/MODE4 Crunch channels pretty well, despite the predictable heavy 80s-style comping on gainier settings. It's a nicely rich heavy drive.
