In my brief moment of strat ownership, I listened to Yo La Tengo almost constantly, whilst pretty much chanting the above like a mantra. Still sold the fucker, mind. Wouldn't have done if it hadn't have been my only guitar, though. I just resented it for not being a Jag or Jazz.

I think its a great addition to your collection hurb, no one needs an excuse to own a Strat. It should be mandatory
I just thought of a few wonderfull Strat tones (dont worry, no Malmstain content lolz)...
Cool as fuck, YYY's

The Edge is still one of my favourate guitarists/delay pioneers, he had a great sound here

You gotta have the man and he was at his peak here imo. how to make a Strat talk....

+1 I love hurb's spazz-out solos.

I like the squier vintage modified better. it has all the modern features like the CP strat but without the 2-point trem that I haet.

Great to see you rocking it man. I never used the trem so kept it uber flat with 3 springs screwed in pretty tight.

So you're in Jazzy mood these days? Guess you're bored of that Jag then...

The daft thing is... even the Squier Affinity Strats are good, you could pick one up for £50 on the right day.

i had one and i didn't like the pickups or the way the neck felt.
it's possible i had a dud but i'd prefer to go further up the chain next time.
although james has that set of strat pups in the classifieds... if i had some money i would consider picking up an affinity and those pups.

i can't fault my classic player strat, my gripes with it being too bright were mainly down to my amp.

Can't deny that mate. that was the first strat I played for any length of time, and it was really nice.
I have played a few since then including a superish strat I played at namm for like 2 days straight. so yeah I guess I had to own one, one day.
I wanna see how it handles my heavier strings and normal noisey setup.

what gauge do you use? i have 12's on my strat and it handles those quite well. i have 5 springs on the trem too.

I use 12's too. at the moment I think it has 10's on. I removed one of the springs. so it only has 2. I need a fluid tremolo on it with those strings that stays in tune as good as my jazzy, so that will be the test if I keep the guitar or not.
