Nope, they're not inconsistent. The bodies are from the ill-fated Bass V by Fender, actually the first 5 string electric bass produced. They didn't sell too well, so fender decided to make the swinger out of them. they slapped on a musiscmaster neck, and chopped up the body, and called it a 'swinger'

They're all like that.

Ooh they have electric 12 strings.
I got to play one a few weeks ago at my local music store and wanted to run out with it.
I'm asking for a price check on the White on at Chicago music.

i knew the history of them, and i have seen pics of them under the guard showing the original routes.
they are a weird breed of fenders for sure.
