not so much the guitar, mainly the views on brian may. i don't think there's much love for him on the forum.
He was pretty much the reason I wanted to get good at guitar.

what i loved about him is that all his tones were so fucking organic. whether or not it's 100 percent true, it always felt like his guitar tone was literally his guitar, his cable and his amp. i know there was more too it, but especially on the early albums, but it never felt contrived.

i likes the way he used effects as effects. his stock tone is just guitar>booster and amp. i love that lead sound on white queen.

to me the quintesential brian may tone is the lead on killer queen. holyfuckballs. just absolutely insanely clear, punchy and bawstothewaws without being cruncy and full of bullshit.

i think he's one of few guitarists that get the exact same tone live as in the studio. the live version of killer queen from the rainbow is fucking lovely.

sorry for the thread highjack dan

I actually like it a lot too, but at $2k (According to Musicians Friend) PRS still failed because I'd never buy one at that price point. To me it kind of seems like they're really just trying to give the PRS crowd something new to buy rather than appeal to a different crowd.
