I'm going to nominate the entire Honeys Dead Jesus and Mary Chain album

also, another classic one, REM's Monster. tremolo all over that one.
cogito ergo sum...thing or other...

I always thought that was a wah wah pedal on 'roads'. bones is a rather good choice i had forgotten about that one.

Ah!

Being a typical guitarist I wasn't listening to the rest of the band

Pfft.

The piano/organ is gorgeous on that song. It sounds good enough to eat.

Aye,

I’ve just been listening to the live in NY version on you tube very mellow, I pretty sure it’s a Rhodes piano.

computer music magazine has been giving away a free vst sampler called CMplay, which has a very good rhodes sample set. sounds very like the sound in roads you'd just need to add the tremolo

stuff like that's improved no end in the past 10 years. it used to be that if you wanted a rhodes sound that wasn't complete toss, you had to buy a rhodes.

although, they're quite similar to guitars in that they all sound slightly different, due to the way the internal pickups can be set, type of hammer tips and all that sort of thing. and there's no comparison when it comes to actually playing one compared to a shitty plastic keyboard, they're great fun.

I’ve never had a shot of a Rhodes, but i did blag a go of a mellotron in a studio down south. I even sampled the choir sound as I’m a big Radiohead fan, but I’ve never found the right place to use those samples. They don’t have the same feel as they did in the real machine something to do with all the mechanical noises that the real thing makes.

This has nothing to do with the topic, but Mike 35456 posts that average out at 30 odd posts a day how the fuck did you manage that?
