Since this thread is no longer 'what pickups should I get' but 'get new pickups, fool!' I'd advise EMGs

+1 I've never had any luck with them.Mike wrote:EMGs.
Great if you want your guitar to sound like a Plank.
No thanks. What I want is the jangle of a Jaguar pup but hooked up to a 250K pot. I want two of these and two 3-position switches for phase in / phase out goodness.mcconnachiea wrote:Since this thread is no longer 'what pickups should I get' but 'get new pickups, fool!' I'd advise EMGs

I didn't know that. I just don't want to have to wire up my Jagmaster like a Jaguar. I thought Jags had mismatched pots (1 meg and 50K or something like that).Mike wrote:Why do you care about the pot value? You realise increasing the pot value increases jangle, right?
Dude I use 3 for £1 batteries and they last for monthshotrodperlmutter wrote:those the ones you have to run using a fucking battery?

EMG produce a decent range, its just they get associated with Thrash Metal or Zak Wylde. People forget the tonez of people like Dave Gilmour that used EMGs for a long time.

Fran!! Good to see someone from JS.com here![]()
Did Gilmour use active or passive EMGs?
I have an EMG active pickup in my '76 P-bass. Sounds pretty damn good, and looks totally out of place on that instrument. Never tried the guitar versions, though.mcconnachiea wrote:Since this thread is no longer 'what pickups should I get' but 'get new pickups, fool!' I'd advise EMGs
