I have the newer one of those, the FX65 Ice Pick chorus. I can't remember what it sounds like, I haven't used ot much in the last three or four years.less_cunning wrote:
Chorus Pedals

I think the main theme or selling point of that series was that they have fancy metallic paint.
I went to the guitar shop in Derry (there only is one, and they're fairly dodgy until you get to know them, I was fourteen so I didn't) to try out the Boss chorus. The fella said I should try this one, and that it was much warmer sounding and that I'd probably like it more. I was hardly going to not like it more after that. It was also cheaper, at fifty quid instead of seventy for the Boss. Now that I think about it, I didn't get any box or book with it, just my receipt held on with an elastic band.
It served me well when I was playing in JebuS, and I loved the sound I got off it so I didn't think that I'd been rooked.

Aye, it's an odd one. I can't remember if it was warm or cold sounding, I wouldn't have known back then. I do know that with the depth all the way up it was pretty fucking deep and could make very interesting noises that way, bordering on phaseer sounds.
I seen it the other day, along with my DS-2 (also from my days of grunging about Derry) and my original Marshall Guv'nor. I really ahve to get sorted with a pedal board and power supply, because I'm disorganised enough that I'll only ever have two workin batteries about me, which means that pedals lie unused.

Aye, that looks like the right idea.
I just got to thinking about this last night, when a friend showed me his Boss pedal board that he'd just got and was dead impressed. He got it for seventy quid, which isn't bad given that they're one-twenty or something new, and this one has clearly never been gigged. I found it difficult to be enthusiastic about such a waste of money. I've just had a nosey on Diago, I thought they were supposed to be cheapish?
I suspect I'll go skipping and find something that I can modify or use ot make my own pedal board.
Would that Maplin job power anything other than 9v pedals? I'm thinking about my Whammy peda here, which is something bizarre, like half a volt and fourteen hundred amps?

reece's quick fix pedalboard making steps:
find a door.
measure up your pedals and all, work out the measurements then loose your tape measure and guess using questionable estimates of the width of your hand.
nick some carpet from the back of carpet right. (ask the staff beforehand, yeah?)
staple and glue carpet to the half door.
and wahey!
although the door was a mistake, that thing was solid wood and my board is well heavy. if i start gigging i'll be buying a proper pedal case but this is fine for keeping stuff tidy at home.

It was Kinsma I was thinking of when I was trying to remember who it was that made reasonably priced boards. The Boss one was shocking. It's basically a case that you might get a power tool such as a jigsaw or whatever in. That, and a bit of foam, a power supply, and some patch leads.

i have a small clone and a ce3. the clone is the best by miles. one of the nicest choruses i have used.Noirie. wrote:I found the Small Clone to obvious and thin personally, Boss Ce-3 or Boss CH-1 because you can run them in stereo.Mike wrote:There is only one Chorus pedal; the Electro-Harmonix Small Clone.
My next project will be to build one with a Depth knob instead of a switch.

Thanks everyone this has been a great help.... It's really cool people actually use chorus pedals, I was always under the impression they had become a bit of a dirty 80's secret and I'd get little back.....Now I'm going through a rather large Cocteau Twins phase and want one!
Also kind lad from Texas offered me a boss, cheers for the offer but I'm a UK'er so that's a no go really, thanks for the offer though....
hmm choices choices
