it does have a gap at the control plate. its right here.
who ever selling this thing is a fucking moron.
it says in the title MIJ when he posts a photo of the decal that says CIJ
it says in the description not once, but twice that it comes with tuners with white plastic buttons when the photos show chrome.
fender japan never went back to making MIJ guitars, its just people like this guy selling shit he knows nothing about that confuses the issue
by the way WHAT IS THAT WHITE SHIT AROUND THE SS # ?
it's never stopped. Fender Japan has been running since 1982. They make all the Fender guitars for the domestic Japanese market and are allowed to export a few select models.
Last time i was in brighton like mid 2008 the Fender Jaguars and Mustangs had crafted in Japan on the heels of the necks. I was down there recently and they had made in Japan instead. These were brand new ones aswell.

At some point in 2008, Japanese Fenders reverted to being "Made In Japan" as opposed to being "crafted". As far as I know, they're still made in the same factories, so I don't know why they switched. My Mustang bass says "Made In Japan", it was bought new in December 2008.
Incidentally, I never understood why they portray the Japanese 69's as being reissues of the 1969 Mustang. They're different in so many ways, it just doesn't make any sense. First of all, weren't all Mustangs competition models by 1969? Plus these have chrome button Klusons, incorrect headstock decals, basswood bodies, and completely different colours. Considering how fanatical about details the vintage guitar fans can be, it's a weird marketing decision to release a reissue that bears so little resemblance to the originals.
Of course, that's not to say that the 69's are bad guitars... far from it. Apart from mediocre (I wouldn't go as far as to say "shit") pickups, they're wonderful guitars. Mine rocks, and I wouldn't mind having a million of its babies.
