I bought an old Vox keyboard when I lived in devon from an old hippy guy that played session for bands in the 70's & 80's, he told me he bought the keyboard from the specials!
Also bought my Jaguar off a guy that played in a band that were signed to creation & also booked gigs for Stereolab & Broadcast.
When i was at school me & my mate bought this really shite pa system off of a guy called Tim who played in a metal band called Shea, he now runs Bare Nuckle pick ups.

When I was learning guitar I decided I need a "distortion pedal" so that I could play Nirvana songs and turn on the distortion, like what Kurt Cobain does, and so I went to a music shop and bought the cheapest one they had for £20, which turned out to be a second hand Marshall Shredmaster, which would go for around £90 on eBay. But I almost ruined the fucking thing trying to solder a new footswitch in and euan took it into care and nursed it back to health. I don't even remember what I sold it to euan for, but if it still works then he got a pretty good deal.
Funnily enough, I am and was a huge Radiohead fan and I'm pretty sure the reason Shredmasters were sought after was because Jonny Greenwood (and possibly Ed O'Brien) from Radiohead used them as their main dirt circa The Bends. Thom has always used a RAT as his main dist. As far as I know.

hah, i found my shredmaster for £15 about a year ago.
i thought the woman in the shop said 50 and i was already deciding even though i am gay for jonny greenwood and i'd probably not see another one just in a shop i wouldn't pay 50 quid for one, until i asked her whether she said 15 or 50.
i basically ripped her arm off. got 70 quid for it on ebay too, well minus ebay and paypal fees it worked out to about twenty pence but there you go.

Yeah, I never liked the Shredmaster. I'm pretty sure Fran said he thought they were overrated as well.Mike wrote:I can build any of those Marshall pedals easily. They're nice enough but they're not as versatile as their number of controls would suggest. The Shredmaster sounds shit, woolly and as loose as a wizard's sleeve with the gain lower than 1 o clock.
I remember when i was in brighton like a couple of months back and there was a old style Marshall gunvor in the front window of guitar and keyboard. I went into the shop and tried it out, one problem though the knobs wouldn't move and the pedals metal casing was fucking piping hot. I told the sales guy he just laughed it off and brought out a proco rat for me to try.
The moral of the story is don't be a dick with pedals![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

I unknowingly bought an old Jazzmaster from Mathew Sweet that he had owned 23 years,
He even played it on David Letterman in 1992, the video was on youtube but for some reason was removed.
After i had payed for it, paypal sent me his information and thats how i found out it was him.
I even emailed him, and he did confirm it was the same guitar from Letterman. (still have the saved email)
Then I bought a J. Mascis Jazzmaster from him that he costomized. I asked him to sign it for me, and he did.
And sent me a copy of his new CD at the time which was Sunshine Lies.
