Fierce. You should make one up to just have to see how it affects things going into the front end for gain boost or the back end for pure volume hike. it's a useful tool.

Mess with the input resistor/cap arrangement to focus the boost on treble if that's your fancy also.

Yeah it's a versatile and really cool sounding circuit. I've yet to build one of these to mess with properly, but will when I've cleared a few orders and can experiment a bit.

In case anyone wants to a make a pcb salty:

Your layouts are fucking smart. Maybe one day I'll get into PCBs, but for now I'm a stripboard man. If I can build a delay on stripboard, I can do it all.

it really is. both mike's and aen's versions are great and in different ways. the saltbooster seems to be half boost / half overdrive, while aen's is more like a 85/15 split in favor of boost. wonderful little boxes, no question.

Base resistors are 820K/100K
Collector 10K
Emitter 390
Input cap 47nF
Output cap 100nF

I used to use 100/220nF caps.

Aha, caps are different too, I see. MINE HAS MORE CRUSHING LOOOWWWWWSSS.

.1uf on boht ends. And your 820 is my 1meg, your 10k is my 3.3. mystery solved, sort of. When i put those dual boosters in homeboys bass, i used 1uf al aorund for even moar crushinger lows.

I went for more bite and clarity than the original, which apparently sounded woofy in an A/B at Doogfest.

can vouch for the originals LPBs woofyness.

can't vouch for saltbooster ...yet. i might do a quick A/B demo video between them with mikes url pasted all over it for the 'tube.

mine gets saturated if you put to much volume in front of it =( I did a special loop for "pedals that aint loud enough" but i could only turn them like 3/4 of the way up and then make up all the rest wiht the boosta.
