I lurv the Epi Casinos - it's probably what I'd get if I had to get another guitar. They've really stepped up their game with the CHinese ones. The last few I tried were great.

Casions are class. Just remember that they're full hollowbody guitars, so there will be some squeeling at high volume levels. Semi's can be somewhat controlled in terms of feedback.

Is this recently because the ones I played after they stopped making them in Korea were cheap feeling.

I’ve had my (sunburst) Riviera since they we’re reissued in 1994, bought it with my first couple of wages when I started working. I’ve bought and sold a load of guitars in that time but I held onto the Riviera. My wife says it looks like a coffee table, but she likes mad heavy metal pointy guitars so her opinion isn’t sound. It’s the only guitar with humbuckers that I’ve ever really liked. Not so keen on the new made in China models they feel like cheap nock offs. If I was buying a new semi I’d buy a Peerless (the company who made most of the early 90’s epiphones) as their quality matches the guitar I have.

Yah, I agree with the newer Chinese productions. I got a '08/'09 Sheraton and it's top notch. The pickups are waxpotted and the sound great.

I think there has been a rise in the quality of product from China in general (I manage/manafacture a lot over there) because of a lot of the newer US Gov. regulations.
