I tried to sink the pickup switches on my Mustang (longer screws, washers) but the pickguard will no longer lay flat on the body. It sticks up on the side with the switches because they are lower and are pushed up by the foam strip underneath (the terminals of the switches are hitting the foam, not the ends of the screws). The pickguard will lay flat once I screw it into the body, but then it looks warped in places and I'm afraid it will stay like this if kept too long. Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions for getting it to work without modifications to the body (or the foam, if possible)?

Don't the new Kurt Cobain Fender Mustang use a stubby switch?
