Heavily-checked red 60's MMs FTW! -- I love my '66 MM II, same description minus the beat-to-crap. Meanwhile, at some point you just give in and start referring to the "white" guitar as "yellow," otherwise people look at you funny.

Filter - its really pretty clean - "beat to crap" wasn't very accurate! My bad! plenty of bumps and bruises - but definitely not abused.

And yes, Yellow is probably what I'll have to call it - because it really is! The forearm wear spot is white, though!

First, thanks! I got pretty lucky snagging that Jag.

I got that shirt from Musicians Friend - not usually a place that I shop, but I was getting some odds and ends for Xmas gifts, and needed to add a few more dollars to get "free shipping."

There are FREE Fender shirts available to anyone in the USA if you go demo an amp at your local Fender dealer (and fill out a little form).

The Behringer pedal is pretty decent. It has a very "vintage" tube overdrive - but it doesn't handle Fender Singlecoils all too well. I've found the same with my tube amps. Tubes absolutely love my humbucker and P90 guitars, but the overdrive is kind of weak when using SC's. I'm currently running a MetalMuff with my Fenders. That pedal was just a bunch of fuzz w/ my humbucker guitars, but it suits the single coils quite nicely. So, I love the Vintage Tube Monster with my Les Pauls, but not so much w/ the Strats/Teles/Shortscales.

Oh - the Goth - its a pretty nice guitar for the money. I just sold one last week to fund that Mustang - I sold a Japanese Epiphone Elite Les Paul as well. Both were fun guitars, but I just can't get over the great deals on vintage "student model" Fenders right now. I see them getting pretty expensive over the next few years (not that they are real cheap right now - but they are affordable).

after my own mustang that's my second favourite combination on mustangs i think. yellowed white and tort. lurvley.

the jaguar too, sunburst n' tort is always a winning combination on jags.

you use any other overdrives/dirt/distortions other than the MMUFF? i haven't played one, but i've seen the demos (only with LP's - ha) so i was curious what it sounded like with a strat.

Rodney - My brother let me try his Zakk Wylde Overdrive after I was complaining about not getting a good boost w/ my SC's - it hasn't done much for me.

I've used a few dirt pedals - nothing that really blew me away. The Danelectro Fab Tone was kind of cool, but not something that I would use all the time. I had a Boss Metalzone which was alright as well. I like the Metal Muff for the top boost - I don't solo a lot, but when I do, its nice to have that little extra in a live setting without needing a second pedal. I'm a blues man at heart, and my Classic 30 and Classic 50 amps put out some nice warm drive w/ the single coils - but when I'm playing in my punk band, I needed more. I'll probably just stick with the Metal Muff for now. I love the tone I'm getting with the Mustang and the MusicMaster driven (In fact, I bought the Mustang because I loved the tone from my MM, but wanted a full 24" scale guitar).

Both of my Strats love that MetalMuff as well. I've got an AVRI '57 and a Roadworn 50's. I think that having a good tube amp is the key, though - I doubt that the MetalMuff would sound good through a "sterile" amp.

Again, not a hard feeling at all. I really do love to argue - my wife would tell you the same. I don't take anything personally - just a fun debate! (Oddly enough, my best friends are guys who I am totally at odds with politically, which is why we always have something to talk about!)

Yes, the "Roadworn" Strat. They get a bad rap - being half-assed fake aged and all. I pulled it off the wall, plugged it in, and fell in love. It was the first Strat I'd ever considered buying. I've since done a lot of "aging" to it on my own, to make it look a lil' bit different from the cookie cutter roadworn look.

Yeah, I really did buy it for the feel and the sound. It is probably my nicest playing guitar - and I have a lot of stuff! It plays and sounds better than my AVRI I think. Those TexMex pickups are pretty hot, and the large frets and 25.5" scale do make for some easy playing.

No offense, and I know this has been stated, but man, you make any guitar look like a toy, I'm sure your stang and musicmaster look tiny on you!

Finally I can see the pix! Great minds, blah blah -- my 60's MM looks virtually the same, only the 24" version and just slightly less dinged-up, while my 70's color-formerly-known-as-white MM sports red tortoiseshell too. It's a great look. Nice guitars all around, congrats.
