I've got shub, Kyser, and Dunlop. I use the dunlop the most (I keep one of them in each of my guitar cases). I have the Kyser and Shubb from when I ran open mics. People would always forget them and I ended up with a bunch of little items that were never claimed over the years (and lost many items as well...) I like either the Kyser or the Dunlop.

I rarely use a capo, but I got one of these ones for free off a mate ages ago:



It's not that good. Its hard to get it to put equal pressure on all the strings.. and because your stretching the thing round the neck is pulls its sideways and sometimes bends the strings as well as holding them down. Its just a bad design. Also the teeth it locks into always seem to be slightly too loose, or too tight.

I use the shubb pictured and i like it quite a bit. like others have said, its small and out of the way like a capo should be. i also prefer the tension adjustment system on the shubb (also the fact it has a tension adjustment system). in my experience it has fit better on a wide variety of necks than the kyser, never any fret buzz. i think it may have to do with the curve of the arm.

my one problem with the shubb is its inability to clamp the headstock of my acoustic (where i prefer to store my capos) or a mic stand, w/e. but hell, ive always got pockets.

also, remember not to over tighten. not really a problem for me, tho.

I have a G7th capo I salvaged from a broken display when I worked at guitar center. It sucks.

I have a Kyser that works good. Planet Waves makes a pretty cool adjustable clamp capo too now

My problem with the clamps is that they always have too much pressure. Tuning can be OK, but they blow through frets really fast. One of my friends got an acoustic about a year ago to play in a capo-heavy bluegrass band and she already is in re-fret territory across all 6 strings on the first 6 frets. I cringe every time she puts that big medieval Kyser clamp on.

my better half brought me a dunlop trigger capo for my birthday and so far so could. feels like it has a lot more tension than my shubb. only gripe i may have is with the shubb you can changed the rubber pad easily when worn, whereas you can't on the dunlop.

Shubb - had mine for years and it's still my goto capo. Tried the Kyser but find it gets in the way sometimes, plus I've the grip of a 6 year-old with leprosy - so putting on/taking off is always funny...

Also with the Shubb you can control the tension with which it grips the neck, which is handy. Though both types still require retuning the (acoustic) guitar whenever they're used..
