most people can't handle the awsomeness of a jaguar/jazzmaster/melodymaker/ anything cool.
strats are ok, teles are pretty cool, les pauls and sg's, they are all timeless designs.
but for fucksake there are so many instruments in the world(im not talking about the formentioned) that its retarded to restrict yourself to 4-5 main instruments.

Sadly that is the way of many music shops too. I live in a place where all music shops sell for guitars are strats, teles, LPs and SGs. I walked in one day to one of these places and asked the clerk if I could get a price on a Jaguar if they ordered one. His reply was priceless..."A what?"
will never forget when the CP jags came in to a shop near me and i asked to try one out.
"why don't you try a strat instead?"

his reasoning was that they're the same but the strat has more pickups and is therefore better.

plus when i tried out the baja tele he plugged me into a line 6 spider set to "insane" with the mids scooped and he did that himself, it was set clean beforehand.

When I asked for a Jaguar in Chris Bryants Music he made some joke about cars and then was like "That was not funny, anyway, these are seriously great guitars" and handed me the Jag I bought 2 hours later.

I got my Jaguar in PeterCooksGuitarWorld in hanwell. I wanted a white jazzie like teh bob smithZ but they were all out.

Whilst plugging it in and shizz the dude said "These are lovely guitars but take a bit more time getting used to than astrat or tele. Sharper sounding and small"

Probably the best guitar shop experience ever for me. So glad i wasn't mugged on the wayout :)

ah yes... the trying to get info on offsets in music shop stories...
I'll never buy anything from a certain local shop, ever since my inquiry about the Classic Player line was met with "Nope, we only carry real ones."
The fuckhead. I never wanted to hurt somebody so bad after such a short exchange in my life.

Every bit as enfuriating, every bit as cocky but with 100% less science.
I once heard the very same clerk tell a kid he coudn't play punk rock with a telecaster because the pickups were too weak.

HELLOOOOOOOOOOO??? ANYBODY HOME???? HEEEELLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO?

While he was off badly advising some other customer, after having praised the punk rock prowesses of some of most heinous looking Schecters and ESPs, I snuck over and told the kid that if teles were good enough for Joe Strummer, they would most definitely be good enough for any music worth it's punk rock salt.

Yeah but these are REAL CP jags, as opposed to the fake ones I was obviously referring to.

Those guys in post one are definitely tools. Tone is too subjective of a thing to say "they aren't exactly tone monsters." I've yet to find a better overdriven punk tone than the neck pickup on my 60's MusicMaster, Mustang, and Duo-Sonic. My Strats, Les Pauls, Teles, and even my '65 Jag aren't getting nearly as much play as they did before I got my 60's student model Fenders.

I do much prefer the 24" over the 22.5" scale on them, though.

What is this "tone" we're speaking of? I guess it's time to say goodbye to my childish mustangs and go buy a manly stratocaster.

Now you're talking! You need to be just like everyone else... (I'll take that Mustang off of your hands!)

Hahahaha, if you want a even more useless guitar, it's left handed.

so far, it's been my favorite design for a guitar in many, many ways.

I'll flip the nut around. Maybe those day-um switches will stay out of my way w/ yours!
