so i got the pickguard, and my suspicions were confirmed...
he would fuck something up.
while it's no big deal, it isn't what i ordered.
i requested it have a single knob hole, which is essentially a 'tone' pot hole. not only did i request it only have the tone knob hole, but also that it should not have the 'volume' knob hole.
he put them both.
LOOKS HAWT. Sorry if it has eben posted, but did you refin that neck? Mine is a bit pastier. I want to slap a MM tort guard on my black bronco.

UPDATE:
i'm going to send it back to him and he's going to redo it, because he thought he made it with only one hole.

Jeannie man does not listen. Jeannie man give you what you specifically not ask for. Not just you. Never, ever use Jeannie man for anything until he learn to goddamn listen and stop wasting peoples time and money.

yeah, i just don't listen/learn. hopefully he gets it right this time.
you may be able to see there, the tone hole is actually a little off line there... i marked on the plastic where it should be

he's also, a fuckin dick. I got that musicmaster pickguard from him, and he decides to tell me at the last minute that the tort he's using is not the stuff he's posted in the picture. so naturally I request he make it in another material. then he whines about how he's already made it and 'I guess I could tear open the package'. what the fuck dude, don't fucking whinge at me, just say you can or can't do it.
people keep using him because:
a.) he makes guards not many other people do.
b.) he's cheaper than the rest.
thing is, it's not like just taking a chance of running into some problems with him. it's fucking guaranteed.

DDDDDDave fucked up my pickguard on the Malikcaster the first time. Bearing in mind he was doing it for free, it was hard for me to say "that's not what I asked for, do it again please". I sort of kindly asked if he wouldn't mind doing it right, and he obliged, but unfortunately I was left with a very hastily cut pickguard indeed. The rectangular pickguard routes are more or less circular. I think that's the pickguard equivalent of spitting in the burger. I hope this Jeannie chap doesn't do the same.

Nothing is worse than pickguardian, however.

yea, I was all nice about it too. all like, "oh gee, that's not what you had in the ebay listing. would it be possible to get it in brown tort instead?" and then he whines about how it would be a massive inconvenience for him. well fuck dude, a.) why did you list it incorrectly? b.) why did you tell me about it if there's nothing I can do about it anyway? if you're gonna change the plan on someone after they already fucking payed, you better give them some options to make sure they're a happy customer. like refunding them or making it with another material of their choice.
for this particular guard I didn't really care too much about the material though so I just went with what he made. and in the end it's a nice enough guard. what pissed me off was just how he handled the whole situation.

you may remember
this thread; which i try to bump every now and again to keep it close so people may hit it from the outside.
i actually talked to him on the phone, and i'm not sure he knows much about customer service, social interaction, or guitars. he may have templates, or original guards, but he's not fluent in mixing and matching, envisioning a custom order, etc.
this just kills me after i reiterated several times that i only wanted one knob hole. one knob hole. one knob hole. surely he knows what each hole was for in the beginning?
i actually thought he'd freak when i told him it wasn't what i ordered, and tried to prepare my justifications, but he was very quick in saying "ok, send it back."

haha, the third post in that thread is me suggesting terrapin.
should have taken my own advice. haha
nah, but the only reason I didn't go with terrapin was, they don't have a template for a musicmaster, I would have to send in a tracing. and I don't have an original guard.
I think you are right about the jeannie guy,

I'm not even a huge fan of it on mustang basses, granted there isn't quite as much blank space between the bridge and the pickguard on a mustang bass as is on yours

Looks awesome! I love the daphne blue + pearl guard combo, looks total class. And of course the bronco knob is the cherry on the sundae!
Does the new bridge work as a top loader too, or is it string-through only?

string thru only, but that's been the plan all along. that's ok, my motto is DRILL BABY, DRILL!
