Sorry to disappoint mate, we've cancelled for Friday... so I guess I can't rescue you from Potter
Just as well you mentioned you were planning on coming along!
I'll let you know the next time we're due to play and I'll keep an eye on myspace for Black International gigs

+1
I think it sounds very complete and I think Stewart has a really great voice, I have no idea why you'd want to bury it, it's an asset to the band.
I wish my voice were so strong and had such an interesting tonality.

thanks guys. i'm sure everyone in the world wishes they sounded like someone else. i think singing also has some sort of baggage for me in that it's like, in my brain, the ultimate form of showing off. i found it really cringeworthy at first, 3 years ago i'd never sung a note, not even 'happy birthday' to a friend or relative.

haha, i'm fine once the singing bit's over, otherwise i'm squirming in the corner with gritted teeth hoping no-one notices.

Is it because you emphasise all the wrong syllables?
"HapPY birTHday to YOU!" etc?

nah, i'm usually trying to give it more of a doom/stoner vibe, make it heavier.

i say it the way it is in the song, must be a regional thing.
i thought RHEToric was more of a 'murkian pronunciation.
anyway, i like these alot. top job.
I think the emphasis usually comes earlier in the word, on the first syllable, but when the noun is made into the adjective "rhetorical" the emphasis comes later in order to give a bit of symmetry. I suspect that putting the emphasis on the middle syllable "rheTORic" is like a result of the way the adjective is pronounced.
I reckon it's because the original word is RheTOR. A RheTOR practices REHtoric and from his RheTORical perspective things can appear quite RehTORic.
So from Stewie's pronunciation it sounds like he's saying, "You feed me. Rhetoric." As if he's pronouncing that what he just said was Rhetorical. It also sort of reminds me of the Blondie song Atomic because of this.
And yeah, I like the songs as well.

ah, so i was right then... i think.
these tracks are being mastered next week, hopefully a bit of tweaking and a sprinkle of fairy dust will make them sound all properly loud and sparkly. they definitely need a treble boost.

Downloading! I suspect i will really like this, all of Stewarts past stuff has been good with plenty of 'The Fall' in the melting pot.

right, we've had the songs mastered, so they're at a decent volume now and the EQ is much better. i'm pretty happy with them now, and i wish to never hear them again, which is probably a good sign.
milky milky
also, if anyone's interested, here's a link to our two previous recordings, dating from 2007 and 2008 respectively. the '07 one has a couple of good songs on it, but the singing could be better. still, my first time recording and all that.
great tits!

Oh, meant to say- all the tracks on that second link were recorded with the bobAC bullet through a silverface twin, apart from two tracks where i overdubbed a couple of bits on a mustang through a little vox of some sort.
