I'd bet the farm it's not far off their black, bog-standard solid-state "Bassman" amps in a tweed covering and more basic controls, with very little in common with the old tube Bassmen we know and love apart from the cosmetics.

Image

100 watts less and comes with this speaker
1-15" Fender® Special Design Eminence® USA PRO 4 ohm, 250 watt Speaker

the thing is....i would buy this thing if it didn't look like shit.

ive been looking at this cab for years now anyway for my current set up.

im working on coming up with a solution to shrink my PA system currently as well. i don't need the 215's that i got already. people don't make 4 channel powered mixers...it sucks....you gotta buy the big boxy things that look like piss.

i want something like this but with 4 or 6 inputs

like this size

people can make a fucking iphone but they cant make a small powered mixer that doesn't look like a fucking brick.

How about you just get a guitar amp?

i don't have any kind of need for a guitar amp. i haven't even looked at guitar amps seriously since i have had the amp i already own. i say seriously because its my dream to find a Super6 laying around in some shack of a pawn shop and pick it up for 100 bucks.

now if i sold my guitar amp, and bought this bassman to play my guitar thru, then i would probably want a guitar amp

the theory of wanting what you don't have

i couldn't imagine how much my computer would suck without my PA being plugged into it. i had to do it for like a year when i first moved in upstairs back around 2003. just playing guitar along with computer speakers n shit. it was fucking lame.

what good is having 16,000 songs on your computer if you cant blast that shit really loud?

i still want to be able to blast shit, but i know i can do it with a much smaller footprint than a huge 6 channel boxy amp with 2 huge 15" cabs.

im thinking desktop powered mixer pushing 2 10" speakers...

hey wait a minute..............if i buy powered monitors does that mean i can use an unpowered mixer? fuck?

You already own equipment that can do the job adequately, so why try and spend money? Especially considering what you have probably has zero resale.

I don't play along to my computer so I don't really understand.

ive never really owned a "stereo" like a hi fi or whatever....so im in the total opposite of the boat.

i have always just plugged in tape decks, cd players, computers, video games, into my PA.

i have a radio out in the living room but i only listen to the morning AM sports talk show when i am ironing my shirt in the morning.

i want to downsize for a couple of reasons.

#1 my dad bought me this PA for christmas in 93 so i had something to play along too with my drum set. when i left for college he became attached to it so i kinda want to give it back to him.

#2 its too fucking huge for this apartment, i have it all piled up on top of a radiator right now and it goes all the way up to the roof.

#3 i want something that can fit on my desk here so i don't have to scoot my chair over to the amp to change the volume

maybe i should just buy a house so i can set everything up proper in the basement?

house?

This bassman does not solve any of those problems.

hhhhhmmm, nothing like my bassmans, it looks cool, but.... solid state?
all bassmans should be all tube!
i do want to try it out tho, cuz honestly if its decent sounding and can crank then 900 bones isn't that bad, especially if in 5 years you can score one used for 450-500 bucks.
