Does scale length make a big difference on string tension?

The original shortscale guitars; Mustangs, Duo-Sonics, Musicmasters, Jaguars, Broncos, Jag-stang, Jagmaster, Super-Sonic, Cyclone, and Toronados.

There's a tension equation on the D'addario site. The difference in tension between a 25.5" vs. 24" or 22.5" can be 20%.

you probly meant 25.5 sale on the last.
so does 20 percent mean an overal space on the fretboard vs energey exerted to bend to a certain note?

I think it was aen who put .011-.070s on his Jag. Seemed to work fine.
Yar, on the 69, but I had the trem all locked up. I did put that same set on my CIJ Jazzmaster though, and on the CP jag.

the higher the string guage, the better the band.

radiohead for example uses .5's.

Weird. I just changed the strings on my jag and realised that I've been using 11-49s for aaaages thinking I was using 11-52s. I bought 10 packs off an eBay seller and just didn't notice that they were different. I change my strings every six months or so, so these strings have lasted me quite a while.
