You cannot allow MDF to get damp. But yes it will be strong enough, i have an MDF Strat and a Lindert that is 90% MDF. Im sure Danelectro have used MDF as well.
Thanks for the link Tim, interesting indeed. I was reading a similar thread on that forum the other day. Ironically for me, Lindert crops up a lot in these discussions.

It is bizarre, he's been posting on there for donkey's years. I'm pretty sure you can buy TDPRI t-shirts with his quotes on, too. However, an alarming number of my students write their dissertations in a similar style.

It's off that cheap Wesley San Diego i bought. But im not actually going to use it coz the headstock is damaged, im considering buying a neck with a paddle headstock and cutting the mosrite shape out of it..

Christ, that took me ages to read and gave me a headache. It must take ages to write, surely? I hate it when words are misspelled sort of on purpose but not to make it shorter; "fer" etc, and putting a z at the end of words instead of an s :E D: I've just re read it and it makes even less sense to me. Thing is I want to go and read more of his posts now.
That headstock would be ace, Fran :D I'm looking forward to seeing all this. I'd love a Mosrite style guitar.

Well, it looks on course this morning after some sanding and filling. Im almost embarrassed about the cutter screwing things up [/mcconnachiea] but i suppose these projects are a huge learning process, by the fourth project things
should run smoothly
If i take that route (i should really should'nt i?) the headstock will be a big challenge seeing as i dont own a scroll saw but the good olde Carpenters coping saw will do the job.

Another stage complete. I filled and sanded back the edge where any damage was then routed the bullnose edge, there may be a little more filling to do but i probably wont see it until i apply the sanding sealer.
I think its looking pretty good at this stage.

Thanks dude. Some decisions have been made...
I'm gonna clone this as much as possible, i've looked around and CAN do this on a budget. So, it will have a TOM/Tailpiece, single coil/mini humbucker and i'll try to match the knobs and stuff as well.
If it plays like a Tele piece of shit then it will make a nice ornament. At the very least.

i can only guess that he had no idea how to spell and so he just sounded out words and typed how they sound.
and i have to assume he's gotten so used to this that he doesn't LEARN HOW TO TYPE FROM THE THOUSANDS OF OTHER POSTS HE MUST HAVE READ apart from the odd few words he can actually spell.

I did some more sanding today with 800 wet and dry, it was really smooth when i'd finished. I then applied three coats of sanding sealer. Monday should be the day to finish off the Routing, just the control cavities.
Then its the long winded process of sanding, sealer, sanding, primer, sanding, primer, sanding, finish....
It looks different again with the sanding sealer on, it also shows up the filler.

Aye. I considered the cross of St Andrew then thought i'd stick with white. Its going to be a close as clone of Johnnys as possible, even down to the disconnected mini humbucker.

Cheers dude. Its hard to say, with it being a JR clone i'd use it in the Punk band but i dont think i'd use it in the originals bands im in. It may just get hung on the wall, depends how well it plays and sounds.
Been browsing necks on the 'bay today, there are few Gibson variants with enough room for cutting modifications on the headstock. Im tempted to do this rather than pay more for a full paddle neck with no nut or tuners.
