althgouh maybe i'll make it a tone knob, volume always needs to be at 11 anyways.

put a tone pot on it, just put it under the control plate. that way if you really need it, 3 screws gets you there in no time.

Funny you say that. I've officially decided to not put tone controls on any of my projects from here out. Waste of space.

most glue doesn't hold stain, and i actually used epoxy on that, so thats why it doesn't react to any sort of stain.

Tone pots are useful if you have guitars which actually have treble response. You'd never dump a tone pot on a Jaguar for example.

this is true... however
oddly i would, but i think its due to the fact that once i get my gear setup, the only knob that gets changed is volume.
so on a jag, i'd just tape over the rollers.

i also have a mustang style pickguard from my cyclone project if you want, it is routed for H/S, fits the strat trem contour, and is 3 ply mint green, which could easily be spray painted black, or used as a template for a new guard.
