palm.

buy your stuff secondhand at reasonable prices and get on with it.
gibson and fender both have a few shining stars in the current lineup (baja tele for instance) as far as guitar for the money goes but theres alot of overpriced nonsense on both company's parts.

also your sig has an SG in it and that SG doesn't even have p90s. fix your life please.

was that a typical Mike response?

I'll give my 2 cents.
Im a Fender man for life. IMO they are extremely durable and dirt cheap second hand.
You can throw a Fender across the room and the worst thing that will happen is it will be knocked out of tune.
You so much as look at a Gibson and the headstock snaps off.
I cant tell you how many times i have seen a Gibson with a busted/cracked headstock.

Gavin wrote:I just realised that Gibson are the Apple of guitars. They make really good quality guitars that people love, but they charge a premium for them and so everyone pisses and moans about how they are a rip-off and how Fenders are actually better because they are more customisable etc...

Except I prefer Fenders and Apple.
Nah man. It's Fender and Apple here as well. I feel strongly about both. If anything is Microsoft it's the Strat - like Windows it's the "default", it's what most non-guitar people think of when you say "electric guitar", it's used by clone makers, it's highly customisable but lacks character in my opinion.
For me Apple = Jags and Teles.

At least with a Fender you CAN replace the neck IF it breaks.

A few years back it was not unknown on full-price Gibson Les Pauls too.

I'd say moreso these days if you look at the history/figures.

dood wtf? played 3 melody makers in my life, one of them I own, none of them have the sharp fret ends that you speak of.

My melody maker is my go to guitar, has a great neck and no sharp frets. Since I bought it my tele has been relegated to the corner.
