there's another one here with no bids sitting at $1200.
ebay link
mike, have a pop at this 'un at that price and replace the guard, no? you'll have your chunky B&B neck for less than a 60s job.

...someone here, hopefully?
btw, sorry guys but i LOVE the black guard.
hopefully, i'll be able to take/post pics today and an in-depth review. of course the guitar has certain details/flaws; i.e. missing the pickup "sawtooths", and non-original neck pickup (the owner said he'd look for 'em cuz they used to be in the case). and she's HEAVY.
but i love 'er. every inch of it. heh
stay tuned!

it is VERY different from the neck on my '65 and '66 jags. it's thicker and the whole neck (and guitar) feels way more SOLID, so to say. i'd say it's almost more U- than C-shaped. very unique.stewart wrote:i like black guards on sunburst too, i think it looks quite elegant.
how does the neck feel on it? huge?
it'll take some time to get "used" to this guitar because i've been playing my 60s fender for so long now... especially because of the weight. but this thing vibrates and resonates so nicely. somehow the string tension on this one is SO much better/harder than the others. weird.
i'll rip the thing apart now and take pics.
btw, does anyone know how the bridges on these looked like? i can't seem to find any good pics, and i don't know if this is a reissue or original bridge.
thanks!

ok finally get the time to post them pics. it's mexico's independence day. i'm brutally hung over but work-free...
last weekend i took both the new '78 tele deluxe and the jag to rehearsal. just as a sidenote, MAN that deluxe is one hell of a rock machine. those WRHB are insane sounding... incredible! but i might post about that one in the other section.
the jaguar... ok she's REALLY heavy, and requires extra man strenght. at the end of the rehearsal (2-3 hours) my feet and back hurt, yes, like an old man.
but i must say... it's all worth it. for the feel, the looks and THE SOUND. though i must mention it sounds different from the other jags. and i was to realize why.
came home and ripped the thing apart. to my (a bit bummed) surprise BOTH pickups are non-original. the guy told me he's still got the claws and one pickup somewhere, as they used to be in the case. hopefully he'll find them for me.
neck pickup sounds surprisingly good, and i say surprisingly cuz it turns out to be an el crappola strat pickup. since they are shaped differently than jag pups there was a small portion of wood, salvagely chizzled out. geez.
the bridge pickup is interesting, cuz it's one of them old (i think dimarzio) "stacked" humbucker pickups; 2 single coils mounted one another, basically.
this pickup sounds great and very interesting too, but it squeals like a mofo at high volumes.
other than that the guitar is all nice and quiet and all original.
i've got a set of old AVRI jag pups lying around, so i guess i'll put those in the guitar for now, and when i have some $ i'll get some from curtis novak. i'll be needing the claws, though. or maybe the guy finds 'em. i hope so.
of course i get 2nd thoughts about if i did the right thing... and still, i think i did ok. cuz i wasn't using/gonna be using that marshall that much anyways. maybe i should've kept the "Big M" cab and/or sold it separately. but oh well...
$200 will get me some decent Novak jag pups and it'll be if nothing happened. i love the guitar, and i can't take my hands/eyes off it.
ok pics now... or it didn't happen!

looks like a resissue bridge to me, but what do i know? anyway, i put an old mustang bridge on it now...

yeah looks REAL good eh? heh... but does SOUND good! (will have to go anyways!)

there's various knicks and dings where you can see a VERY red undercoat... i guess from the sunburst, right?
oooh but she's so nice!!!

i like to put new strings on with new guitars, so it gives me an excuse to take the neck off and have a nose about. the coronado was a bit of a pain with that floating bridge thing though, had to mark it all with tape and it was a right pain getting it back together again.
shame about the pickups pat, but that stacked humbucker actually looks... dare i say... quite interesting.
