We're talking about dragging a 6x10" and a 4x10" on tour for one guitarist. It seems overkill to me.
I don't think there's any need for you to cry BABY TEARS though.

overkill is awesome. I don't envy you hauling that shit around, but I think it's a cool setup.

I don't really care, it's his gig.

Personally it annoys the tits off me when bands we play with turn up with so much gear it makes getting shit on and off stage and storing it backstage a complete ballache.
I'm a gigging musician.

2 amps, 2 pedal boards, I hope you have at least 1 back up guitar or your rig is incomplete!
I dig the mega rig!

That's a baby rig compared to this one:

Seems completely excessive and ridiculous. I think you could achieve the same idea with two 212 cabinets and an amplifier with stereo outs. While I agree that having a huge rig sounds cool, you gotta be practical with these sorts of things... I personally have been using my friend's Vox AC15 over my Twin Reverb for recent gigs simply because it is more portable. I have even toyed with the idea of flipping the Twin to get some sort of 1x12 combo or some sort of head with a small cabinet. I can only imagine the headache the rig you have would entail.
Also, that Jazzmaster has like literally no sustain. Even for a jazzmaster. Which might be good for some applications, but others not so much. Strongly recommending a Mustang/Mastery bridge swap..

I saw them in a basement recently, it ruled. They could have been louder, but I think they we're being courteous to the house. fucking bongripper.
2 amps is the way to go, maybe less cab though, lugging around my 2x15 bassman cab is such a nightmare. I can only imagine the 6x10 as being hellish.

Who else was it? Them, Hate, and Winters in Osaka, right? That show would've been so fucking awesome.

Exactly that show, chronic seizure was supposed to play but they bailed and we got Lord Green instead.

How is Hate live? I'm sure you see them quite a bit because of them being in Chicago. They're doing a mini tour next month, I believe, and hitting an awesome local DIY spot. I'm pretty excited to see them.

Hate's intense, I've seen them live a handful of times and the show usually results in plenty of the "mosh." The guys in the band are totally intimidating but nice dudes. DIY forever, you'll have a good time I'm sure.

haha it's just that it was recorded at 3 in the morning with both amps below one with a computer mic. the guitar has plenty of sustain and putting a mustang bridge would not do shit. How the hell would a mustang bridge increase sustain. that's just stupid.
And it''s all about fucking casters.
and when the fuck has being in a rock band had anything to do with being practical. Little amps are for old fucking codgers with bad backs who play the blues. I'm not using a combo amp until I'm over 30 like all of you lame ass nay sayers.
The only headache my setup will entail is the one I unleash on unsuspecting concert goers
You fucking shits, you fucking sit in your tower... with your girly amps

If your sustain has to come from amplification, then obviously the guitar itself is lacking in that department. If you throw enough gain on, anything will 'sustain' mostly due to heavy compression of the note decay. Your jazzmaster sounds plinky, which is cool for some applications. Not a slight against it, just an observation.
A different bridge with higher mass will increase sustain. Don't see why this is a hard concept to grasp. Whether or not it's preferable is obviously up to you, but I think given the application at hand you'd want to consider it.
Casters don't do anything when you have to lift the amps. I also fail to see how combo amps are girly when some of the best amps of all time are combos (practically every Fender, Vox AC30, Marshall Bluesbreaker, etc.) I like heads, but I don't view them as somehow more 'masculine' than a similarly powered combo... I see the value of stacks in music like Metal where you want that tight bass response, but most rock music doesn't require it.
'Rock band practicality'? Dude, it's not the 60s anymore, the majority of music venues have PA systems that don't completely suck.

The material density and mass has a lot to do with resonance. I am not suggesting that a Mustang bridge will have a huge ZOMG CRAZY effect on the sustain, but it will yield a discernible and measurable difference in the way the note has its attack and decay. Different bridge designs and different saddles designs effect the way a guitar sounds. Not sure why this is 'a load of shite'.

A mustang bridge will not make ANY difference in sustain. where is all that extra mass you speak of? the saddles are hardly any different and the actual bridge is the same on a jag and a stang. THe only possible advantage of a stang trem is that there's no height adjustment screws. the guitar resonates way more than my jaguar. no fender is going to be a gibson. A guitar isn't going to sound like it sustains forever when it's recorded really quiet with a shitty computer mic also. It seems like there's a rash of weirdos telling people to mod their vintage guitars for stupid reasons on here lately. sheesh.
Having big amps on stage is just part of the band's image, they wouldn't have me if I had a little combo amp. They're going for the whole 60's psych thing, part of that is a wall of amps.
