If they are using rear routs and plate for the pots why do they need the big strat pickguard? Kind of back assward.

All my joking aside on this topic, at least Gibson are trying something 'different' by their standards. I'd sure like to see Fender make some Chuck Berry 335 if the outcome is anything like Stewarts Semi.
But for now, we'll just sit and watch them churn out another bunch of Telecasters whilst we laugh at Gibson.

I think Fender are doing some good stuff. The CP Jaguars and Jazzmasters are fantastic and a smart move.

Yeah, they should make a two pickup version of the Esquire, and then maybe a one pickup version of the Mustang with a different bridge.
