and 1957. Before they were burst there was the 1957 goldtop with humbuckers.

Haha, those outfits never fail to amuse me. Please tell me Fran that you will start wearing red leggings to your gigs from now on.

I'd totally rock the white pressed flares of Iommi if I could find some. Seriously.
Or is that Geezer? They both looked exactly the fucking same anyway at that point. I remember seeing pictures of the California Jam with Iommi minus his moustache. It just looked wrong.

That one has either been routed or has had the truss rod cover replaced.....though I don't think they made that many goldtop standards around then whereas the goldtop deluxes are common. Also routing them for full sized buckers was VERY common.
Also it is a "pancake" body and looks like a 3-piece maple neck which is sometimes scoffed by LP traditionalists but as you pointed out it's still got tons of sustain.
Cool guitar....with the less desirable pancake body, maple neck, and routing it might even be sort of affordable!!!

In 1974 you could order a Les Paul with full sized humbuckers as a special option. They were badged Standard but If you think it's original it wouldn't be impossible that there is a 1974 Deluxe out there with full sized humbuckers from the factory.
